The Big Loser of the Night: CBS
The Corner ^ | 11/12/2011 | Marc A. Thiessen

Posted on 11/12/2011 7:17:18 PM PST by TBBT

f there was a loser on the debate stage tonight, it was CBS. First, they scheduled their debate on a Saturday night between two major football games. Then they decide to only broadcast the first hour of their 90-minute debate. Then their Internet feed failed for the final 30 minutes. This was CBS’s first and only debate — and it showed.

Scott Pelley was a terrible moderator. He treated the men who might be the next commander in chief like schoolchildren, cutting them off in mid-sentence, lecturing them to answer his questions. He even lectured Newt Gingrich on policy, telling him that killing “terrorist suspects” is “not the rule of law.” Big mistake. Newt smacked him down, explaining that we are at war and in war we are allowed to kill the enemy without a court order.

Pelley was the loser, barely edging out Garrett for last place.

I didn't have a problem with the feed at all. You need a good Internet server and I have Verizon FIOS. Maybe some of you need to update. Second, CBS did not lose. It was never going to be a rating bonanza and CBS knew this so they made a business decision and put NCIS after the debate to get some eyeballs. You guys know it is all about money. CBS is a business. You really think that this debate made them any money???? Heck no! Probably what they should have done was do the entire debate on line and not have the debate on TV. If you think this hurt CBS at all, you all are crazy!!! Number one network on TV does not make mistakes.

difference between Newt and Cain on Pakistan "GINGRICH: I don’t think you should negotiate with the Taliban. This is so much bigger and deeper a problem than what we have talked about as a country. Guerillas always survive with a sanctuary and that sanctuary is Pakistan. It needs to be a much larger discussion. Pakistan and Iran are the problems and Afghanistan is the least important of the three. CAIN: We don’t know if Pakistan is a friend or foe. Pakistan is where Osama was found and eliminated. Pakistan has talked to Karzai and Afghanistan is going to side with Pakistan. There is a lot of clarity missing here in this whole region. Our relationship with Pakistan needs to be re-evaluated. What commitments is Pakistan willing to make to prove it is a friend? What commitments will it make regarding its military? What sort of regional agreement and strategy is possible? We need our allies to work together for things mutually beneficial to everyone. Read more http://hillbuzz.org/republican-south-carolina-debate-live-blog-transcript-cbs-debate-111211-111211

Perry looked pretty good in comparison, but no one can match Newt.”

THAT is the simple truth. If we started working on it now and gave him a decent running mate, he would kill Obama by the end of the campaign. I think he has got to be the one to take him on. No one else on that stage can win.

Bachmann actually won the debate in my opinion. Too bad she can’t be President. She would be incredible. Cain came in second. Cain will be the President of the United States in January 2013.

Herman needs to study up on the issues or he'll lose support to candidates who have. I'm holding off on further donations until I see some improvement.

And if it doesn't come, I may be forced to give my support to Newt, as much as I hate his track record.

How badass would it be if Rush Limbaugh hosted an online debate? I bet EIB would have the bandwidth!

He could have some of his radio fill-ins assist with the questions; Mark Steyn would be worth the price of a Rush Premium subscription for access. Heck, Rush could have unique access codes printed on the bottom of Two If By Tea cases as well.

Anything to free us from the liberal mass media hosting these things!

Bad news all around for the lefties!!! “Politico” has now become significantly diminshed as objective, and is now seen strictly as an “Obama” rag, resulting in dropping readership substantially, other then the left-wing, Democrat nutcases!!! CNBC with Harwood, the liberal whimp, Maria, the evil witch, and....Jim Cramer, the raving maniac is also not objective, but crass. And....CBS has managed to fall even lower then Politico and CNBC combined, into its left-wing cesspool iof total imcompetence across the board. What a joke!!!

As for the current status of the GOP group of POTUS potential nominee, IMHO, this race is just getting started. Hang on folks, this run is just getting fired up!!! The debate this evening was terrible. One minute per candidate response is not even close to conclude a candidate;s position. What CBS should have done, was stated that this debate would stricly cover, only the Middle East, Israel, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan & Afghanistan. As such since many of these are hooked together, each candidate would be given three minutes to respond per question asked, with no rebuttal!!! And.....the CBS TV breakaway after one hour has destroyed the idiots at CBS forever!!! Worst debate, ever presented in my fifty years of viewing debates since the first Kennedy/Nixon debate in 1960!!! CBS is done. The left-wing, Obamabot media sinks lower into the cesspool where it so rightfully belongs!!!

As for the Pubbie candidates, IMHO, all lived well to fight another day!!! Like I said, folks, this battle is just getting undeway. My advice, ignore the lamestream media totally, and wing it on your own. There are plenty of fair/objective alternate communications sources to refer to and heed, if you so desire!!!

Herman Cain’s answer is far more realistic. Pakistan is ruled/controlled by 4 factions as most people in the know are aware. It is an unstable country ruled by dictators, corrupt politicians. It has the highest number of religious schools (madrassa) churning out hatred of ALL non-islamic people. Iran OTOH has at most 2 factions, the Mullah’s and the military. Worst of all Pakistan has 100 times more OPERATIONAL nukes versus Iran trying like hell to get their 1st.

We have around 18% real unemployment. When we have an election based on foreign policy let me know. That is the summary of the debate. It is the economy stupid, is still true.

If this had somehow been a “show” highlighting Obama....there would have been a full orchestra, ethereal lighting, Greek columns, adoring crowds, laugh tracks, digitally-created huge crowds....you name it.

God how I hate the MSM.

Newt was stellar as always. I’m very unhappy that I missed most of the last half hour thanks to cBS’s screwed up LIVE feed.
