To all

This needs to be sent to the CBS News Cretin who mouthed no to Gingrich regarding the whacking of Al-Alwaki.

“.....
Martin James Monti, Peter Delaney, the SS-Standarte Kurt Eggers are Americans who are known to have fought for the Germans in World War II in the Waffen-SS or any other units. There are German records of five Americans fighting in the Waffen-SS in May 1940, American records of Monti's treason case, and also records of eight American soldiers killed during their service to the Germany. ...”

So its been done before !
Now if they want to argue about a need for declaration of war in the “War on Terror” I somewhat agree. Though functionally when Bush was voted authorization it was a declaration of war. I would have proffered one that actually used those terms. Counter argument was how do you declare war on non-state entities, my retort to that was Washington is full of wordsmith lawyers who could generate the right prose, they should Gav done it!

Interesting comments on the Americans serving in the SS during WW2. A close friend and now deceased WW2 grunt related the following to me:

Desperate for work after finishing the 11th grade, in the summer of 41 he found himself working for a farmer in ND that was a recent immigrant from Germany. He had several sons-two of which had returned to Germany the previous year(unstated was why.) The farm was short of labor and thus hired my friend and allowed him to bunk in an old coop (tough in winter). The farmer spoke only German and my friend learned to speak it in the year he was there. He ultimately got drafted, fought through Europe, and was one of the first Americans in Dachau. He ended up with the Camp Commandants sword.

So now I am curious just how many Americans fought for the enemy;it seems to have been more than a few.
