DECKER & TRIPLETT: Beijing’s electronic Pearl Harbor
The Washington Times ^ | November 11, 2011 | Brett M. Decker and William C. Triplett II

The following is an excerpt from “Bowing to Beijing” (Regnery Publishing, Nov. 14, 2011):

In November 1997, Deputy Defense Secretary John Hamre testified before the Senate Subcommittee on Terrorism that “we’re facing the possibility of an electronic Pearl Harbor. … There is going to be an electronic attack on this country some time in the future.” Two years later, he told a secret session of the House Armed Services Committee, “We are at war - right now. We are in cyberwar.” Fast-forward more than a decade, to 2011. President Obama’s choice for secretary of defense, Leon Panetta, tells the Senate Armed Services Committee at his confirmation hearing that the United States faces a possible “electronic Pearl Harbor.” Mr. Panetta had been the CIA director for the previous two years - so he would have known.

Two extreme, nearly identical warnings 12 years apart should have brought home the magnitude of the electronic threat facing the country. Yet nothing was done. When former Director of National IntelligenceAdm. Mike McConnell was asked directly by Congress about our ability to withstand such an onslaught, he replied, “The United States is not prepared for such an attack.”

The Obama administration has shown a shocking disinterest in this threat, earning it a blunt rebuke from former White House national security official Richard Clarke. While “our government is engaged in defending only its own networks … it is failing in its responsibility to protect the rest of America from Chinese cyber-attack,” Mr. Clarke wrote in the Wall Street Journal. In other words, the federal government has taken action to protect itself, but not the rest of us...

Even this Washington Times article does not go as far as to actually HITTING BACK.

Until you make the bully suffer for his offenses, he has no incentive to stop attacking.

(Art.) The Obama administration has shown a shocking disinterest in this threat, earning it a blunt rebuke from former White House national security official Richard Clarke.

Even the other 'Rats don't get how narrowly the Obama crowd construe their agenda.

Remember how Lenin "dumped" Russia's WW I interests and commitments and concluded the disgracefully one-sided Treaty of Brest-Litovsk with the Germans, to extricate "his" troops to engage the Whites in the Russian civil war -- getting at the Whites and royalists was more important, far more important (it was the pursuit of total power, after all), than fighting the German Empire.

"Disinterest?"

No. Obama bows to Hu Jintao. His communications czarina Anita Dunne cited Mao as her mentor.

The Germans sent Lenin to Petrograd to remove pressure on the Western Front.

Who sent Obama.

His Brennan (first choice as DCI) and others purge "Islamist" and such words from the record, even as Obama maneuvers us into greater vulnerability to both Russia and China.

The 1999 work of the two PLA officers Unrestricted Warfare was an obvious compilation of measures under the heading of asymmetrical warfare, including cyber attacks.

Now that Clinton and Schwartz and Armstrong and Wen Ho Lee and the ant army of spies has carried our advantage back to the nest.

The next twelve months should see a wag the dog event to draw the Occupy operation into an infiltration of Hezbollah and a Chinese or Iranian EMP attack.

Why should Obama worry about polls if he's going to do a Lenin.

Stalin took over for the thirty years between Lenin's death in 1923 until his own in 1953.

Obama is a joint project of KGB Active Measures and the Saudi Wahabbis, with all the inept arrogance of Langley helping--witness Brennan whose Analysis Corp. sanitized BHO's 1981 passport data re the Pak trip.

Triplett has been sounding the alarm since Year of the Rat and Red Dragon Rising.

America fell for President Gaga and got the consortium's Trojan Horse.
