Rick Perrys brain freeze and Herman Cains alleged penchant for blondes have fixated the American media in recent days. Liberals, sensing there might yet be hope for President Barack Obama, are engaging in a fresh round of condescending chortling about the idiocy of the Grand Old Party.
Certainly, recent Republican shenanigans have provided ample fodder for late-night comedians. Talk to many ordinary Americans beyond Washingtons Beltway, however, and you tend to hear about other concerns.
Yes, they are preoccupied with the prospect of a double-dip recession and unemployment. But two topics that were raised again and again by people I met in Michigan this week were the brewing scandals surrounding Republican-led investigations into Solyndra and Operation Fast and Furious.
Solyndra is the solar energy company trumpeted by Obama as part of the green jobs future and given $535 million loan guarantees from federal government stimulus funds. In September it filed for bankruptcy and its premises were raided by the FBI.
Operation Fast and Furious was a botched sting operation run by the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agency (ATF) in which at least 2,000 weapons were allowed to be sold to suppliers linked to Mexican drug cartels.
Some 1,600 of the weapons have never been recovered. They disappeared into Mexico and have been linked to numerous crimes, including two of them to the murder of Brian Terry, a US Border Patrol agent. His parents found out about the provenance of the murder weapons from the media.
In the past week, it has emerged that George Kaiser, a billionaire donor to the Obama campaign whose family foundation was Solyndras main investor, had raised the subject of the company inside the White House, something the Obama administration had denied. The suspicion of cosy inside deals is hard to escape.

Hopefully, very soon, the "whiff" of scandal that surrounds BO as in Barack Obama /Bsd Odor will turn into a full frontal unmistakable assault on the public's olfactory sensibilities.
A whiff??? More like a STENCH or perhaps a skunk duel.
The media has yet to get fully engaged in either of these scandals. Their coverage is superficial. This isn’t nearly as fascinating to them as giving ten minutes to Gloria Allred and her gold digging client. A good investigative reporter could make a name for themselves. Sadly they are all in the tank for Obama.
Barry's campaign would admit to cocaine use in 1999, but could not let it out about any "down-low" life style in a Gurnee limo, "Man's Country", etc.
So, Donald, by way of Larry, apparently was "taken care of".
Whiff? Stench like a Chicago cab, sprayed by a colony of skunks, thrown into a septic tank.
Drive-by media? .....crickets..... There is some "there there" but the blinders have been Crazy-Glued onto their collective heads.
“Operation Fast and Furious was a botched sting operation”
no it wasn’t.....
A “sting” has a primary component, the capacity or intent to TRACK THE WEAPONS!
Holder clearly had no such intent or capacity, as he never informed anyone in Mexico, or other key law enforcement agencies, such as Homeland Security.
recent Republican shenanigans .... what shenanigans? I heard some leftist allegations and lies, but I don’t accept this premise.
Whiff? Whiff? oh, man...
“...NOW taints Barack Obama.”
NOW?????
The amazing thing is that The One STILL has his staunch defenders, who still love to point the finger at GWB whenever the conversation comes around to the scandal du jour.
I think that explains Rasmussen’s unshakable 22%. Although, it was stuck at 24% for quite awhile. So maybe there’s some hope, even for the brain dead.
Somehow if the corruption is blatant and out there in plain sight, it can be ignored.
It’s all Bush’s fault! Holder already started with that stupid dried out old mantra.
Fortunately, a Senator already got Holder to admit this was NOT similar to the Bush practice which was:
1-Limited to small quantities,
2-Coordinated with Mexico,
3-Actually tracked and recovered weapons.
The most two-faced individual to ever reside in the White House...
