This is the official stance of the US military that a young John McCain was taught. He is not an original thinker, he is an academy grad, he was a professional soldier. So it is not too surprising to me to hear him toe the company line rather than think about whether or not the company line was or is right.

McCain was never waterboarded by his North VN friends. He doesn't know anything about waterboarding. He is blowing smoke through his hat, posing as a moral authority because he was tortured by other means, as if they are equivalent. They are not.
This is a good illustration of the dangerously misleading idea that a "victim" is somehow in a position to lecture people who are not victims. It is a bad idea. A very bad idea, and is pervasive among the practitioners of the western liberal whorehouse.
