...[Perry] vowed to "uproot the three branches of government and overhaul government.
"They each have contributed to the demise of America," Perry said. Perry has scheduled an Iowa speech on Tuesday where he plans to lay out details of his overhaul. But he told the activists it will be sweeping and form the basis of the case he will make to activists who will show up for Jan. 3 precinct caucuses.
"The question for Iowans in 50 days is not whether to embrace change, but for Iowans to decide who is the most credible messenger for that change," said Perry. He says one part of his plan will be to change the way the federal courts work, saying he's tired of judges he described as "arrogant."
The Texas Republican said other candidates offer lots of rhetoric on conservative issues, but he has a decade-long record of delivering on them as governor. "Leadership isn't about style, it's about substance, about action," said Perry.
While other candidates tout their anti-abortion views "I signed a budget that defunded Planned Parenthood in Texas," said Perry.
Perry focused much of his fire on President Obama, saying voters have grown weary of the president, but he was not shy about making the case that he would make a better rival than any of his Republican opponents, largely because he aggressively confronts Obama and offers the most dramatic change.
"I'm in this race for the presidency not because of some lifelong ambition, but because the American people are yearning for someone who will tell them the truth," said Perry. "If you want real change, if you want to overhaul business as usual, caucus for me."
I, for one, do not believe the people who got us into this mess can get us out of it,"...

Speaking at the Ronald Reagan Dinner of the Scott County Republican Party, the Texas governor said his government reform proposal would "uproot all three branches of government and overhaul Washington."
Perry said the plan "touches every branch of government because they each have contributed to the demise of America.
He didn't go into specifics, but in a mostly fiery 14 minutes Perry said the proposal would address lifetime federal judges "who arrogantly rewrite our laws from the bench." He is also promising to offer changes affecting a Congress that not only spends too much money in Washington but "is in Washington too much."
America remains mired in the ruins of this Washington, out of touch big government economic policies," Perry said. Noting that Washington, D.C. anchors the most affluent metro area, Perry said: "That's because all of those overpaid czars and bureaucrats havent suffered one bit while weve been going through one of the worst economies this country has ever seen." ...... Value Voters Summit Oct 7, 2011 - [excerpts - notes taken from speech]
......"The key to prosperity is liberty. Yet the larger government grows, the smaller our circle of freedoms. The most basic unit of governments is family. As a conservative I believe with all my heart that the government closest to the people is the best for the people. There should not be a single policy coming out of Washington that interferes with families.
Perry on his childhood: ..Rich in spirit -- abundant in faith. Happiness wasnt a product of what we had but what we believed. In a community with a strong sence of family that there was nothing we couldnt achieve in the land of the free and the home of the brave...
There are millions of Americans born into less than ideal circumstances, maybe born into poverty, born without a parent, but as a society we must stand for the principle that every life, every life, is worth living, regardless of circumstance. In America, it isnt where you come from that matters, its were you are going.
As Americans, we must affirm the value of life, not just in our Declaration of Independence but in the ways that we live. For some candidates pro-Life is a election year slogan, to follow the prevailing political winds. For me, it is about the absolute principle that every human being is entitled to life, all human life. All human life is made in the image of our Creator. And every innocent life must be protected. From the most frail, who are elderly, to the most vulnerable who are unborn. That is why as governor, I have consistently worked for pro-Life legislation -- policies such as parental consent for minors seeking an abortion, a ban on third tri-semester abortions, an informed consent law, and I am proud to fight for and was proud to sign a budget that de-funded Planned Parenthood in Texas.
Our obligation is not only to protect life and bestow freedom upon future generation but it is also to instill character. Young Americans must never be taught about rights without also learning about responsibility. We must not proclaim the responsibilities of a free society and ignore the responsibilities of free individuals. We must never mistake liberty for license. One is a right, the other leads to bondage.
For more than a generation, our culture has emphasized the message of self-indulgence at the expense of social obligation. We have reaped the consequences in the form of teen pregnancies, divorce and broken families, the cycle of incarceration that joins young men with their fathers behind bars. The fabric of our country is not government or individual freedom, it is the family. And the demise of the family is the demise of any great society. .
This great country of ours has never been steered off course when we have advocated freedom and promoted strong families. But neither can it be preserved without unwavering commitment to our national security. You know as Americans we are blessed to have the greatest fighting force for freedom in this entire world, our men and women in the United States military.
You know, there are some out there, misguided souls that just say you cant find heroes any more. My, my are they ever wrong. We have heroes today. They are fighting in the mountains of Afghanistan - the sands of Iraq. There are those on covert missions, in places we dont even know about, to find and destroy the enemies of this country. They put their lives on the line every day so we dont have too. Over the years I have been so honored to have met so many of those great heroes as Ive traveled to their outposts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Ive signed letters, to their loved ones, for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. I consider myself so fortunate to have been able to wear the uniform of our country. And that experience informed my perspective about our defense policies. Specifically, I believe we must never put the military on the chopping block for arbitrary budget cuts as part of some political horse-trade. Never!
The question we must ask is not, what we can afford to spend on our military, but what it costs to remain secure and free. See, a real key component of keeping America secure, is keeping Israel secure. We can never forget, we can never forget, that it was Israel that took out the nuclear capabilities of Iraq in 1981 and of Syria in 2007. Israel is our ally, they are our friend! And when I am president of the United States, America will again stand with our friends.".... [end excerpt]

Q: What are the three most important foreign policy issues facing the U.S. today?
Rick Perry: Having a strong economy so that we have the economic ability to have an impactful foreign policy.
We must be able to keep up with our research and -development capabilities in the military.
And our very important foreign policy position must be that our friends know well be there for them, whether its Israel in the Middle East or Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, or India in the sphere of influence where China is located.
Perry Doctrine: "We Stand with our Allies"
11/12/11 SC Commander-in-Chief debate: .Republican candidates for president on the debate stage in South Carolina Saturday agreed that addressing the out-of-control national debt is essential for national security. At one point Texas Governor Rick Perry spoke of how his administration would grant foreign aid, with every country starting at zero dollars:
When asked by a Twitter user how this policy would apply to Israel, Perry responded that like every country, Israel would start at zero.
Obviously Israel is a special ally and my bet is we would be funding them at some substantial level, said Perry. But it makes sense for everyone to come in at zero and make your case. Source

What will left of our country in eight years?
Hi, I’m Rick. Wait. I’m Rick. I know I’ll get this.
Have you figured out your last name yet?
I’ll get it.
Oops.
I just wanted to say, I remembered my last name, it’s Perry.
“Big Perry comeback”
Feel good now?
Everyone is better than the dems.
Thanks exnavy!
“Rick Perry wants to uproot all three branches of the government’”
I see we haven’t learned from past mistakes.
You like the way the three branches of Federal government have entrenched and are dictating to the states and the people?
I wish our candidates mentioned the Constitution more.
In fact I wish they loved it as much as I do.
Of course I could never be President, having made a number of women feel uncomfortable in my lifetime, I am sure.
I want a president who is more figurehead than anything.
Most of the federal gubmint is extra constitutional, let’s eliminate those parts.
public education?
I stand with Gov. Rick Perry. And Herman Cain.
I think he’s pointing out Perry’s use of mixed metaphors.
He should, to be technically correct, have said that he’d like to cut down the three branches of government.
