CNN was to cover it and dropped it from their Internet line up and then cut in late on their on-air show and then cut away as Gov. Perry began to outline his proposal. Here is the plan just up on his website:

I like the part-time Congress - that is how it was supposed to be. I’d like to get back to state legislators electing Senators to represent the state’s interests.

I’m for voting out bad Judges but wouldn’t there need to be a change in the Constitution to do this? I believe they hold office “during good behavior”. I would argue trying to write laws from the bench is “Bad Behavior” but probably wouldn’t get far....

Let me guess, the proposal had three points, but they only remembered to publish 2?

I bet the last pages of the proposal were blank because they forgot what they were going to say on the subject.

Federal workers would suffer a similar, if less severe fate: Their salaries would be halved until the budget is balanced.

So Perry is going to tell some poor E-5 on his umpteenth tour in Afghanistan that the wife and kids back home will have to get by on half his former salary?

Texas has a part time legislature and a week governor. It’s the way Sam Houston wanted it. And it’s worked pretty well so far. A person gets elected to the legislature and doesn’t get paid squat. BUT, he gets to sit on boards and gets paid to do that. And after he retires he gets to be a lobbyist and makes even more money.

Folks, they’re all crooks and they always will be as long as “we the people” sit back and watch.

Although he is not my preferred candidate, I wont bash him. I would like a discussion of his ideas here. Anyone want to weigh in? I am unable to listen to him speak at the moment.

I ‘think’ Perry is a nice guy. I believe that he is a good man. Compared to Obama, he would be a breath of fresh air. I have read the pledges and I think most of the listed positions are certainly reasonable.

However (you knew that was coming, LOL), however, it’s is just too late.

I have already read and heard all of his excuses, so I don’t need to hear them again, but his performance has been so incompetent and dismal that he has made himself look like a dufus.

Of course, he may very well not be a dufus and he may be extremely intelligent, but that is the perception that his poor performance has given.

I believe that it is too late for him to turn around that perception, regardless of what he now says in his apparent desperation.

Too little-too late.

I thought Rick Perry was a lot smarter than this. His ideas to change Congress...can't happen without Congressional approval.

His ideas about the judiciary and federal judges...would require Constitutional amendments approved by 75% of the state legislatures.

Maybe he's not dumb and is just hoping he can say this stuff and nobody will look too deeply.
