I can do whatever I want all day long. The question is whether or to what extent I will use that time well, in a way that supports our family life.

That's exactly it. There's watching Maury vs. sewing, gardening, cooking something delicious and canning it or creating something beautiful for the home.

married21,that was a very insightful post. I’ve been a stay at home mom for 22 years and have enjoyed every minute of it. I have 5 kids, ages 22 down to 12. I stay EXTREMELY busy, I very rarely sit down. I get up at 2:30 a.m. and fall into bed around 8:30 p.m. and I’m running the entire time. You’d be surprised how much you can get done that early in the morning. I’m finally at a point that I’m tired of cooking and cleaning and am thinking about how it would be to work outside the home but I just can’t right now. My at home kids still have school activities, dr appts, dental appts, orthodontist appts, etc. I’m afraid that by the time I can work outside the home it will be time to take care of my elderly parents but that’s ok. I’m still happy with my lot in life, for the most part. I do have some challenges but they don’t have anything to do with being a stay at home mom.
