I have not looked it up, but I fully expect that living in a temporary structure (tent) with no sanitation facilities and public urination and defecation are on the NYC books as violations.

Depending on the mood of the cop, and what he writes you up for, Public Urination can either be a violation that involves paying a fine, or a misdemeanor for which you can get up to a year in jail.
