If it were private they would not be paying $5.8 billion for "FUTURE" retirees. That's not for current retirees, or even folks who've retired recently, or will retire in the next few years. This is for folks who are retiring 75 years from now.

What this particular payment amounts to is a bit of PROFIT TAKING by Congress in a way they believe gets around the Postal Reorganization Act which prohibits such actions.
