WASHINGTON—Many Republican voters are drawn to Herman Cain's forceful campaign style. But an examination of his comments and proposals raises questions about his grasp of issues he would face if elected president.
On a few occasions he has quickly corrected his statements. Other times he has laughed off his critics, telling people to have a sense of humor.

“— China’s military. Speaking to PBS about China on Oct. 31, Cain said, “They’ve indicated that they’re trying to develop nuclear capability and they want to develop more aircraft carriers like we have.”
China has had nuclear weapons since the mid-1960s.
Cain later told The Daily Caller: “Maybe I misspoke. What I meant was China does not have the size of the nuclear capability that we have.”
“Maybe I misspoke”..... Maybe!!?? For crying out loud... he was just winging it and then tried to b/s his way out of it.
There are just too many gaffs adding up and in a very short time...
I’d say that he just needs to think before he answers a questions, but I don’t think he knows the correct answers.
I will still take any of our candidates (except RP) over Obama any day.
A question from the same media who covers for all of Obama’s misstatements and double-speak?
Oh, Shirley, You Jest.
Let’s wait till he’s visited all 57 states.
Ditto !
Seems like only yesterday the AP was asking the same question about the current President;)
This boston.com article has great gravitas and credibility, seeing as this news source was very critical of Obama’s gaffes and flubs during the last campaign. rotfl
I still like Cain but would vote for Newt if he’s the one that can beat Romney.
Unfortunately Cain certainy appears to need a great deal of catching up to where it isn't a matter of remembering what his advisors have taught him..but he has a firm grasp on how he sees the issues and that with some degree of conviction. We're just not seeing it...and it is a disappoinment to many...myself included.
His true form is beginning to show. When he cannot lean upon his 909 plan, he has nothing.
LOL
I think it's a mistake to keep comparing Cain to Obama mistake wise...because the bar is so very low with Obama that by doing so brings down Cain all the more.
Though all have their moments before cameras etc...Cain seems to have more difficulty when the topics move for details or specific opinions he should have...he then reverts to his standard of meeting with or gaining advice form others in order to answer the questions.....or having all the information before him before making a comment or planning an action, so much so that it seems this is his dodge now for not knowing what he should know. ...But a President often times must make decisions without all the facts, and this with what he does have to draw a conclusion....followed by an action or not to act in a given situation.
It was very difficult listening to Cains response on Libya and his not knowing exactly how Obama had approached Libya...or if or not he agreed or even had a straight forward respons of his own. It was just sad to watch.
Regardless how any might think of Cain as a Candidate...he is one of ours and his reponses or lack of reflect on us all...especially because we want him to do well.
This Cain supporter has concluded he is a former Cain supporter. Cain is not even close to ready. =(
It’s harder to run a business than it is to be POTUS for four years.
JMHO
That 909 plan was a joke.
