Cain complains that Cuba policy questions in Florida are “gotchas”

Really? That could be a valid complaint from a candidate stumping for votes in places like Iowa and New Hampshire, where voters probably don’t have too much concern over the “wet foot dry foot” policy of accepting Cuban refugees. When a candidate goes to Florida and explicitly campaigns in the Cuban-American community to get them, those questions seem more pertinent than “gotcha” — especially when the topic at hand was Barack Obama’s “foggy foreign policy”:

Cain, who last week stumbled over questions about what he would do in Libya, seemed to know little about Cuba. His campaign kept reporters at bay, and when asked about the Cuban Adjustment Act and the so-called wet-foot, dry-foot policy, Cain seemed stumped. The policy allows Cuban immigrants who have made it to US soil to stay.

“Wet foot, dry foot policy?” Cain asked. His press handlers interrupted as Cain diverted his course and ducked back into the building. Later, when he emerged, he was asked again by another reporter. Cain wouldn’t answer. …

Cain, though, wouldn’t talk to reporters there, either. A FOX reporter asked Cain what he thought of President Obama’s easing of travel restrictions to Cuba. Cain said that was a “gotcha question.”

Should Hot Air start a "Cainism of the Day" daily post?

Should Cain's staff had him up to speed on Foreign Policy issues that concerns Floridians? If so, then how does this look for a candidate who says he'll make up for his shortcomings by surrounding himself with the best people?

What was the funny line all the Newtbots were trotting out" Something about "Self immolation"?

Odd how the same Freepers who who whine hysterically when anyone is critical of Newt around here have no problem attacking everyone else.

I despise the media, but I don’t plan to vote for Cain just to prove it.

Quite frankly, I’m sick to death of any candidate whining about “gotcha questions” (even the candidates I like). Man up, woman up, and just answer. If you don’t know, say you don’t know. Take some responsibility for yourself and stoop acting like a 5 year old in a sandbox.

Don’t “whine” about the questions,
but attack the premise of the question(s).

No one is wetting their pants over Cain. Cain would not survive a grammar school history debate. He’s a funny guy... a real ladies man.

All I know is that I have yet to see anyone give me a reason why I shouldn’t trust Herman Cain.

Hmm Rush Limbaugh says you're opinions are moronic. I guess I have to agree.

RUSH: Now, he said that twice. He said, “Well, I’m for collective bargaining as long as it’s not collective hijacking, and as long as it doesn’t create an undue burden on the state.” Again, the attempt here is to make it sound as though he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. But on Libya, when you listen to the whole interview, the whole question and answer, he ended up getting Libya right. His biggest mistake was admitting he was having a hard time focusing. He shouldn’t have said that in front of the enemy, the enemy being the editorial board, but he said I’m having a hard time focusing here.

Federal workers do have collective bargaining. Some of them do. Some federal workers do have collective bargaining. It’s not the same as in some of the states. For example, the air traffic controllers do have collective bargaining over their wages, and some federal workers only have collective bargaining rights over work conditions. Some of them have collective bargaining rights over other aspects, but not wages. It’s all over the ballpark. It is a mistake to say that federal workers, as the editorial board member here said, don’t have collective bargaining rights; some of them do.

In any event, substantively Cain was right. Substantively Cain got it right on collective bargaining for federal unionized workers, and the editors got it wrong. And even the Journal Sentinel article that accompanies the video eventually admitted that Cain got it right in his answer and their editors had it wrong. But no matter, they are attempting to portray via the video here a slow, ignorant, uninformed, unsure of himself candidate who really is just out classed and is just totally out of his league. And the video, under that impression, under those auspices, has gone viral, and that’s the thought accompanying it with everybody who sends it out.

The only people wetting their pants about Cain will be the people who want to defeat 0bama if Cain is the nominee. It’s obvious he hasn’t given much, if any, thought to foreign policy. He’s just not qualified.

I like Cain, I trust him..he’s a good man, a God-fearing man...he’s been smeared and villified by the MSM...but I now have doubts as to whether or not he’s up to the job...

So Cain thinks "Wet foot, dry foot" may be a line from a Dr. Seuss book.

Meanwhile Newt is caught with his hand in a $1.6 million cookie jar helping Freddie Mac kill a House bill to increase oversight on them, on their way to a $500 billion (and counting) taxpayer bailout, while their execs walked away with tens of millions in bonuses.

Gee...I wonder which one HotAir.com thinks is HOT NEWS!
