They marched, yelling chants and holding signs, Occupy Hartford protesters filled the streets of Hartford under heavy police guard.
Police on foot, in cruisers and on horses were present to keep the peace as a group made their way down Farmington Avenue and to the Broad Street on ramp to Interstate 84.
Some even got arrested for blocking the on ramp, something the group said they planned to do as an act of civil disobedience. In the end police arrested 12 people.
Earlier in the day, Matt O'Connor, whose union backs the protesters, said the demonstration was a rallying cry against corporate greed. The march was part of the National Day of Protest.
Blocking the on ramp, to a government constructed and maintained highway is supposed to protest corporate greed how?
“They marched, yelling chants and holding signs”
“Mostly say Hooray for our side”
“Sign, sign, everywhere a sign”
“Get all that garbage out of sight
Or you don’t”protest” Friday night
Yakety yak (don’t talk back)”
Seriously, police should just tell motorists to plow though these pathetic human roadblocks. I would do so gladly.
Wow! they arrested them all?
The Tides Foundation funded the Occupy Movement that was spawned in Toronto - The Tides Foundation is funded by George Soros, one of the first and frequent visitors to the Obama White House. The goal of this Marist “Occupy” “movement” is to provoke police so much that they act and someone gets killed. Then the Marxist can point to “police brutality.” Every single time they use this tactic, it’s just a replay of the orchestrated Haymarket Riots so many, many decades ago that were planned to evoke police reaction. Every College sit-in you can think of was planned by the same category of Marxists, claiming the are protecting free speech in their attack on the government. Those involved might as well be on spring break - for them it’s an exciting adventure; these are middle and upper class kids who have it too good.
