And yet the winningest Bama QB of all time, Jay Barker, did nothing in the NFL.

Barker was an oddity who turned out to be an outstanding college QB. But his first couple of years as the starter he could barely throw a pass. Still Alabama won a national championship in '92 with a great defense and a QB who basically handed the ball off to the running backs.

His passing improved greatly his junior and senior seasons until he ran up some good stats. I think he was a four year starter who had immense OJT because there was no hot shot QB on the roster, and he made few mistakes and Gene Stallings just trusted Barker.

I will always be grateful for them beating Miami in that Championship game, I was actually in Miami the night of that game, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Canes fans with the tears of unfathomable sadness....I remember that year that Gators gave Bama a pretty tough game, much tougher than I expected, I think it took a Pick-6 for Bama to beat us.
