I never said Perry didn’t like this legislation.

He probably should have defended it more pragmatically.

The point was that a lot of Mexican families receive aid because, altho they work, they don’t make enough to pay taxes and they receive aid.

The idea was that by lifting some of the kids born to illegals up a little bit ... not by GIVING them a college education but by letting them pay in-state tuition, they might rise from poverty and become taxpayers and assets to Texas and the country.

It seems like a good idea to me.

Everybody benefits, including the colleges.

An illegal immigrant with a college education is still an illegal immigrant and honest law-abiding employers are not going to be in a rush to hire illegal immigrants.
