“Huntsman signs popping up all around New Hampshire the last few days...”
Very pleased to read this. Last three New Hampshire polls have shown him at 7%, 8% and now 9%. Not much I grant you, but there is a steady pattern there.
If he catches fire in New Hampshire, Huntsman is potentially the biggest threat to Romney there. He is also the most likely to get under Romney’s skin (”well-lubricated weather-vane”, the flipping monkey ad).
I’ve been savaged on FR for saying this before, but I believe that Huntsman may well be not only the candidate with the best chance of beating Obama, but he’s also MUCH more conservative than people realize. The reason being that he has made the conscious decision to campaign like a “moderate” and has used “centrist/moderate” rhetoric. I believe he is doing this because he feels he will be well positioned for the general election.....but obviously it’s not the best strategy for the primary.
If you delve into his actual record as governor, it is as conservative as any candidate that is running, with the possible exception of Michele Bachmann. He’s definitely more conservative, and you can make the case that he is more conservative than Perry and Newt.
Thank you! You may have been savaged on FR for stating this, but wear those scars as a badge of honor St. Louis Conservative!
Politicians often lie. Their record rarely does.
Huntsman can beat Obama handily. That was probably part of the reason why Obama offered him the China post. To clear the field of his potentially most dangerous opponent in 2012. Yet again, Obama has been caught out trying to be too clever. He has actually provided Huntsman with the silver bullet for next November.
If Huntsman wins the nomination, Obama simply can’t play that tired old “My opponent is too dangerous, too unstable, too erratic to be trusted with the White House” card. Huntsman only has to raise that eye-brow of his and reply with “then why did you appoint me ambassador to China?”
Huntsman actually has accomplishments and experience on the international stage, and executive accomplishments and experience back home.
He will school Obama, and beat him decisively. Not sure how many other candidates I’m confident of saying that about, right now.
