I’m actually surprised that Assad’s regime has not heated things up with Israel before now, for just this reason.
With Assad & company’s survival at stake, it would not have been surprising had they initiated some ‘modest’ degree of conflict with Israel in order to force the Arab world to rally around Assad..... mb they will still try this option, not that I’m looking forward to it.
Well another butt-kicking of the Syrian Air Force by the IAF could always be fun, but one never knows how things could develop....
The reason is plain. The Arabs will take Israel’s side over Syria and Assad knows it.
