For supercommittee, failure was an option

A few months ago, Washington's big bad wolf was Republicans' refusal to compromise by supporting any deficit reduction plan that included tax increases. Republicans were unreasonable, editorial pages fulminated, obstructionist and standing in the way of meaningful reform.

On Monday, the supercommittee admitted it had failed to cut $1.2 trillion from the deficit over 10 years. Citizens Against Government Waste spokesperson Leslie K. Paige called it "the unpardonable turkey." At least this turkey cannot be laid on the GOP's doorstep.

Last week, a Republican on the supercommittee did try to compromise. As Politico reported, Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., offered a 10-year, $1.5 trillion debt reduction plan that would raise about $500 billion in new revenue while cutting spending by $750 billion.

Toomey is about the last Republican you would expect to support an increase in taxes.

Can someone remind me why these useless highly paid elected officials continue to draw lucrative paychecks from taxpayer revenues?
They wont lead, they wont follow, and they refuse to get out of the way.
They don’t seem to have a viable position.

Is it time yet?

Yeah, sure.
This turkey Toomey supported the sodomization of the US military through repeal of DADT.

I simply don't trust him anymore.

The "Super Committee" failed. They failed to reshuffle the deck chairs. Boo hoo hoo.
The government will just have to make do with the automatic 16% increase in spending it is left with. Oh, boo hoo hoo.

One step closer to dissolution of the USA, down grade of bond rating this weekend when no one is looking.
Why else would super commitee have expiration date on long holiday weekend.

By the wayside, can anyone explain where in constitution this is even allowed.

Why has not current admin after 3 yrs not even submitted a budget.

Maybe because they hate you, hates your family, hate your success, hate Free America, hate Americans, hate the Constitution and hate the Bill of Rights.

Get to work (if you have a job), shut up and pay your taxes. Move along, Citizen. There is nothing to see here.

As Democrats continue to cast Republicans as the obstructionist “Party of No” (a label that conveniently ignores Democratic disunity), remember this: Not a single Senate Democrat has voted ‘yes’ on any proposed buget this year. That’s right, every Democrat in the United States Senate has voted to reject all five budget resolutions brought before them; four from Republicans, and one from President Obama. And no, your little debt deal “deem” gimmick doesn’t absolve you of any responsibility here.
