When Newt steps in it, he really steps in it. Tonight he sounded like he was to the left of LaRaza Rick on this issue. I don’t know how someone living here illegally for 25 years is not breaking the law, but somehow in Newt’s mind it isn’t.

Newt is worse. Perry has made a career of pandering to ILLEGALs; he can't very well change course now.

Newt OTOH, watched as Perry torpedoed his campaign, yet he went on to make the same mistake!

Political suicide is political suicide, whether you're a sitting governor or a former speaker of the house.

Newt has said this before but it was mostly ignored. Apparently he thinks if you are sneaky enough to stay for that long, you deserve to stay. lol.

He once said “Some illegals deserve amnesty”... by being sneaky enough and living on the dole long enough I guess?

What makes this amusing is that we had the amnesty of 1986—exactly 25 years ago. The USG estimated that one million would apply, but the true number turned out to be 2.7 million. So Newt’s example of a family of illegals who have been here for 25 years demonstrates that amnesty doesn’t work. They arrived right after an amnesty.

Newt is a Catholic and it is the policy of the bishops to shield those misunderstood illegal Catholics from South of the Border.
