Longshot Republican candidate mulls third-party run [Gary Johnson]

Disgruntled former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson says he is considering leaving the Republican slate and running as a third-party candidate in the 2012 presidential election.

"I feel abandoned by the Republican Party," Johnson, who has been left out of most of the Republican debates, told the Sante Fe New Mexican newspaper this week, saying he might seek the Libertarian Party's support.

"The Republican Party has left me by the wayside," said Johnson, whose polling numbers have recently been so low that they are often not even being picked up by pollsters.

"If I'd have been included in 16 of the last debates we wouldn't even be having this conversation," he said.

While the Libertarians are on the ballot in every state, Johnson acknowledged that the party, which espouse freedom of expression and action, had never received more than one percent of the nationwide vote.

Johnson, 58, holds dear libertarian values such as low taxes and limited government and wants to legalize marijuana.

Who is Gary Johnson???

To imitate Gary Johnson, do the following:

1. Take a bong hit
2. Mess up the hair
3. Display shifty eyes
4. Act like you don’t want to be there
5. Take another bong hit
6. Jabber about senseless things

Bob Barr gave both Indiana and North Carolina to Zero in 2008

Crap. I didn’t know that. Your right. We must stop this guy from running. Maybe he is mulling it over right now and won’t. Thanks for the info. I can’t believe it.

Another question is HOW the Libertarian is on the ballot in all 50 states when its vote totals are far below the threashhold to gain ballot positions in many states.

He’s a fiscal conservative also. Left New Mexico well in the black, and refused to bloat government with “make work” type jobs. He’s well thought of here, in contrast to his successor. Is seen from time to time around town since he’s a cyclist/runner type.

He’s a RINO/Liberal....3rd party would siphon Democrat voters, in his case. He belongs on the Left.

Good skier too. Not a bad guy, good local politician, wouldn’t give typical pol answers when on local talk radio.

Pity he’s not at the debates, he doesn’t have much of a chance, but he’d bring up issues the others don’t want to discuss.

Longshot? He’s a libertarian and Ron Paul already has that vote. This guy is far worse than longshot.

Gary Johnson is a LIBRAL-trian. He has some nice ideas about taxes and smaller government, but he and Paul are crazy.

He’s popular among libertarians. If the Ron Paul people don’t like the GOP nominee, they could bolt to Johnson if he runs.

That will make it harder for the GOP to beat Obama.

Gary Johnson is more of a liberaltarian than the GOP is, right there with Wrong Paul I’m sure.

He was never going to be a serious GOP candidate.
