Prepare for riots in euro collapse, Foreign Office warns
The Telegraph ^ | 27 Nov 2011 | James Kirkup

British embassies in the eurozone have been told to draw up plans to help British expats through the collapse of the single currency, amid new fears for Italy and Spain. As the Italian government struggled to borrow and Spain considered seeking an international bail-out, British ministers privately warned that the break-up of the euro, once almost unthinkable, is now increasingly plausible.

Diplomats are preparing to help Britons abroad through a banking collapse and even riots arising from the debt crisis.

The Treasury confirmed earlier this month that contingency planning for a collapse is now under way.

A senior minister has now revealed the extent of the Government’s concern, saying that Britain is now planning on the basis that a euro collapse is now just a matter of time.

“It’s in our interests that they keep playing for time because that gives us more time to prepare,” the minister told the Daily Telegraph. Recent Foreign and Commonwealth Office instructions to embassies and consulates request contingency planning for extreme scenarios including rioting and social unrest.

Greece has seen several outbreaks of civil disorder as its government struggles with its huge debts. British officials think similar scenes cannot be ruled out in other nations if the euro collapses.

Diplomats have also been told to prepare to help tens of thousands of British citizens in eurozone countries with the consequences of a financial collapse that would leave them unable to access bank accounts or even withdraw cash.

But you can trade it for something you can eat.

“Ezekiel 7:19”

So I guess “no” is the answer.

Well then, better look into long term food storage and weapons/ammo.

” But you can trade it for something you can eat. “

Well.... Maybe...

I’m thinking that my pound of coffee might go for a few pounds of seed potatoes or a gallon of gasoline or kerosine in preference to some non-edible, non-consumable commodity....

Word is during WWII, Japanese citizens hoarded gold etc just in case. The time came, and while many had precious metals there was nothing to buy.

Gold etc is for holding value through crisis, and for taking opportunity should it arise.

What you’re looking for is lead, brass and copper.

Gold may be useful for buying passage or paying bribes.

My wife and I just spent 3 days organizing our basement and garage. Our basement now has three rooms. The main room, the wife’s stained glass studio, and my SHTF room.

The SHTF room contains 100 lbs of par-broiled rice, 468 quarts of canned goods like salsa, tomatoes, pork, and vegetables, 4 buckets of rice (50 lbs each), 1 bucket or flour, one bucket of sugar, and a fifty cal ammo can of 223, 2 each of .45 ACP, 2 each of .44 Rem Mag, 1 of .357 Mag, 1 of .30-06 springfield, and 1 of something else I can’t remember.

I love that room.

I just stand in the doorway and look at it.

And now I am adding containers of water.]

It’s awesome.

IMO the Euro was just an attempt by the Europeans to displace and harm the dollar, It almost worked.

Now if we could just stop printing money that is worthless, and get rid of the Obama administration that helped make it worthless, perhaps it would make a comeback.

I wonder what countries can revert back to their old currency.
I left Slovakia in Jan. 09, and they had just that week gone
on the Euro.
I presume they still have a stock of Slovak Krounas.
Fortunately, I have less then 25 Euros left in my Slovak bank account.

Awesome, but you need way more flour for breadstuffs, and a lot of beans to go with that rice to form complete proteins.

Could? It must. It's simple math. The exponent always wins in the end.

The riots will last as long as there is still stuff for the rioters to loot. After that, all the rioting in the world won’t get the animals free stuff from the government any more. Then they’ll have to go home and try to figure out what to do next. The end.

Gold is a store of wealth across the times of troubles. It’s also “flight capital.”

As in, can you load more value in canned food, crates of ammo, or gold-— in a Cessna?

Then they’ll have to go home and try to figure out what to do next.

Then they'll go housee to housee, looking for food.

And after the last grain of rice is gleaned, the last dog and cat and squirrel and rat is potted, they'll be looking for people to eat.

The socialist (ie., Democrat) politicians use other people’s money to buy votes. Sooner or later they run out of other people’s money. Later has been put off with smoke and mirrors for about as long as possible. The people who have spent their lives trading their votes for free stuff are about to get cut loose on society at large. Personally, I am well armed and a real good shot. The countdown to genuine economic depresssion is on.
