Former President Bill Clinton praised his erstwhile nemesis former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, crediting his strong debate performances with propelling him into front-runner status for the GOP presidential nomination.
(snip)
Clinton was impressed that Gingrich devised a red card system that would be used to stop normalizing the immigration status of illegals if efforts to control the border proved ineffective. That was a thoughtful response, Clinton said.

BJ thanks you for understanding. Most true conservatives think twice about anything that Clinton says, but you just go right ahead and react.
Slick Willie regards Gingrich as a potential frontrunner, so he administers this poison pill. Bubba knows exactly what conservatives think of him, and he uses it to destroy a conservative.
Too easy.
1000% and i hate to say it but this bubba “endorsement” will go over well with the independents who have thankfully awoken and turned on dumbama, the POS they got elected in ‘08....i’d prefer a guy like McDonnell of Virginia but i will take Gingrich over another four years of that squatter in the WH...
If that doesn’t turn a person off of Newt, nothing will. Anyone Clinton likes is poison to me.
Clinton to conservatives: But do please, Brer Fox, don’t fling me in dat brier-patch of non-Newt rookie, flipperino, losers and never-was’ers and weirdos. Do please give us Demorabbits the Newt!
Conservatives: ABN! ABN!
Gingrich earned my disdain long ago. Both he and Clinton have smarts. That doesn’t make them wise nor capable of leading this nation back to greatness and away from socialism.
And Clinton hornswoggles another one!
Say what you want about Slick but he knows how to cover his bases.
I kind of think he would like to see a Newt (or any Pub) v Hillary race in 2016.
Or how Mitt Romney can win.
As we secure the border, we must make an aggressive and serious effort to deport all criminals, gang members, and any other threats to our society as quickly as possible. We must also tap into the ingenuity of the private sector to better validate who is in the United States legally.
Newt opposed the DREAM Act. However, he did agree with part of the legislation which allowed those who came to the United States illegally as children to serve in the U.S. Military to earn their citizenship, just as foreign nationals are today allowed to do the same.
Furthermore, Newt has proposed giving local communities the authority to allow those with long established roots in the neighborhood a legal residency status, but not citizenship. Newt believes local communities are at a better vantage point to determine if those there illegally should stay or go. Under this system, we will send home those with no family or community ties and quickly deport those who have committed criminal and other destructive acts, while providing minimal disruption to families and communities.

clinton likes the ladies...
Besides cheating on wives, big government programs, supporting liberals (e.g. DeDe Scozzafava in Newt's case),another thing Bill and Newt have in common “word parsing”.
No... this is a poor excuse for an ex-president.
Clinton is what he always was... a slick political hack not to be trusted, but compared to Carter, he's been a model ex-president.
That is exactly where I am at. Newt lost me with his amnesty, now there is no one left worth supporting. Popcorn time.
Problem is...we have a lot of “kids” on here making snide remarks about those in the GOP running that never lived through that assholes administration-or at least were just kids growing up. They never went through the LBJ, Nixon years and saw the crap that came out of DC where we lost a good portion of our liberties. So, they have no idea what it is to be more free.
I somehow managed to survive the Carter (and Nixon and LBJ years) and watched when I bought a 1978 GMC 4X4 for 6200 dollars and 4 years later went to trade it for another and the very same pick up was at a nice little 18 grand on the lot. I watched gasoline go from 54 cents a gallon to over 1.60 a gallon.
Every single problem we have today was started under that old hack of a creep. Reagan managed to get it straight for a time and then came GHW Bush who managed to destroy the GOP with his style of conservatism. Only to be continued by his son which put the end to the GOP I grew up and knew.
I see the SOB has the right color in his eyes....RED.
Everyone (especially the media) forgets that Slick and Hitlery have the FBI files on EVERYONE! Watch who they like on the GOP side. That means there’s plenty of FBI goodies on that person just waiting to be leaked.
Ditto that. They don't remember when the GOP 'leaders' were Beltway welfare cases like Bob Michael and Bob Dole. Say what you want about Gingrich, but since his rise to prominence in the early 90s, conservatism has been the norm for the GOP, not the old me-too 'Democrat-light' of the past.
That entire approach is nonsense. First, if local communities are truly allowed to make the decisions, some communities will approve practically every illegal and other communities will approve practically none.
And if such a ridiculous program were ever implemented, those millions of former illegals who can stay, but never become citizens, would be constantly thrown up as a victim group that had been mistreated and discriminated against and stigmatized by a the heartless Newt and the Republicans.
We'd never hear the end of that until the Dims regained power and provided them all with a path to citizenship.
Newt has over-thought this issue as he often does, and as he also did on the global warming hoax.
