he average American could buy a house for the amount of money it takes to run Air Force One every hour.
The U.S. military has provided an updated estimate on that cost, first published by a taxpayer watchdog group and confirmed by FoxNews.com, and the number is staggering -- $181,757 per hour. That's the price tag for shuttling around President Obama, who, as it turns out, has spent more days abroad in his first two years than any other president.
Estimates over the years based on government reports and independent number-crunching have always reflected a steep cost for presidential travel, but the figure provided by the 89th Airlift Wing appears to be far higher than any previously reported. It was first published in a report this week on presidential travel by the National Taxpayers Union Foundation.

With this economy, he will spend the second term criss-crossing America telling us to tighten our belts and wear a turtleneck.
How about cutting the AF1 budget for this POS instead of what we need and more than what we need, what our troops deserve?

I hope to live long enough to get to P-— on this SOBs grave because I wouldn’t cross the street to P-— on him if he was on fire. I’ll probably have to designate a surrogate hitter though and make it a condition of my will.

If it weren’t for censorship I’d say what I really think.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Is this the same AF-1 that Bush had or is it a new one?
It isn’t Air Force One itself as it is all the vehicles and crap and security and crap and aides and crap and cargo planes, air-to-air refuelers, press planes, chefs, reporters, and all the other crap that goes with it. Did you know that before GWB a representative from every major department and agency—along with a plane from the NSA—traveled with pres just in case he couldn’t pick up a phone and call someone to see what is going on....I’m sure that he didn’t need them but people like to travel especially when the taxpayers are paying for it.
It’s the same Air Force One that Bush, Clinton, Bush used—there are only two 747s—SAM 28000 and SAM 29000—and yes-both planes travel with the President just in case there is something wrong with the first one...$$$$$$
There probably won’t be a new plane for the president at least until 2017. There looking at new designs...did you know that Air Force One was so technically backward that Bush couldn’t talk to anyone on 9/11?
Rusmfield had to send up a special 747—call Kneecap—to relay the messages...
and yes, Kneecap is the special doomsday plane...
“GET OFF MY PLANE !!!”

I say: Abolish Presidential travel. The White House is big and luxurious, with a big lawn. Anybody ought to be content to stay there for four years.
Let them fly in Piper Cubs.
Just trim it out in some fuzzy dice, curb feelers and spinner wheels for the landing gear. Maybe some nifty hydraulics on the front gear to pop up and down as hail to the chief is played on his blackbarry.
