Chuck Todd: GOP Will Have To Be "Dragged, Kicking And Screaming" To Support Romney (video)

NBC's Chuck Todd on "Morning Joe" today: "Apparently the Republican base is going to get dragged, kicking and screaming to come to the conclusion that they're going to have to support Romney at the end of the day. I mean, it is amazing to me to watch this.

"This is a candidate in Gingrich. He is now, the anti-establishment candidate. A former Speaker of the House whose businesses actually have addresses on K Street in Washington, D.C. It's not just -- it's symbolically right there on K Street.

"That to me tells you how much energy there is against Mitt Romney in this Republican field. And at some point, you're right. Do they just surrender and say 'fine, we're going with Romney' or do they fight this and fight this and fight this? And I tell ya, if you look back at 2010, I think they fight this."

For the first time in a long while, I saw Ann Coulter on F&F. She was pushing for Romney strong. It was so disappointing to watch her tout him as a good candidate. I couldn't take it for long so I got up and cleaned the litter box. Seemed appropriate...

Ann is a dyed in the wool card-carrying member of the Establishment .

She hung in there for her first choice: Chris Christie, until he finally convinced everyone he was not running.

Of course, Ann is - first and foremost - all about Ann.

RINOs must accept traditional values and illegal immigration enforcement if they want to win the Presidency.

I will not vote for a ticket containing Romney in any capacity.

Romney is DOA. The lack of substantial movement in his poll numbers prove that. He’s a second tier candiate at best. He’s got name recognition, money and only the support that comes from that. There is no fire in the belly nor widespread enthusiasm for RINOs.

As long as the left and the media can keep Republican’s dithering with the final result being a Romneybot RINO, they’ve won no matter who wins.

THE REAL DEAL?

Romney is the turd in the GOP punchbowl.

If Romney is on the ticket,
he will foul ALL the GOP candidates.

Millions will not vote for ANYONE
if Milt Romney is on the GOP ticket.

Romney is not our ideal conservative candidate--as far as I'm concerned, the race is largely still open.

However, I will vote "R" next November regardless of who it is. will be better than Obama, for another four years.

“I will not vote for Juan McCain. No way.”

How’d that work out?

We all voted for Sarah.

How did THAT work out?

It will be much easier for Obamacare to remain the law of the land with Romney in office, as it will be impossible for the Republican Congress to oppose Romney on that issue.

And how do you think THAT (obamacare) will work out?

Never, ever, vote for somone who wants to take you over the cliff at 90 miles per hour.

Who will be doing the dragging? And who put them in charge?

From what I can see - the MSM - the liberal's butt boys in the press - are doing the dragging. They're the same people who attacked Palin - and now Gingrich...

Yeah, he can just set back and let the left run it for him.

By design of the GOP Elites.

Just like 2008.

You’ll vote for Romney or you will get another 4 years of Obama.

The GOP Elites are more than satisfied with the status quo. They would be content with another 4 of Obama, in exchange for a possible Senate majority and retaining the House.

==

None of the other wannabes seem to be able to maintain enough momentum to even mount a serious challenge for more than a couple of weeks. The GOP candidate leadership status has changed frequently, and still seems to be in flux.

Barring some signficant upsets, once the actual primary voting starts, the GOP Elites’ preference will get the nomination. But, as in 2008, several ‘conservatives’ will split that segment of the vote, so none will probably present a serious challenge.

"I will not be voting for mitt romney under any circumstances... maybe the corrupt republican leadership can come up with enough dead people and illegal aliens to vote him into office... I will not be voting for him or newt."

I have the same problem!! I am a Cain supporter & the media & GOP are totally ignoring him, as if he doesn't exist.

I'm over giving my vote to the choice of the media & the GOP!! I'm just NOT going to do it again.

I remember Ann when I first saw her at the birth of FNC. I really thought she was something and pretty gutsy. The same with Michelle Malkin.

I think both are for Romney now?

I voted for mccain because of Palin... I gave them $2500.00. Did you? I will tell you how that worked out... it sucked... I paid $2500.00 and still got a kenyan usurping islamic traitor for president. I will NOT be making that mistake again. You want romney... you vote for him... you want newt... you vote for him... if the republicans nominate either... I will not vote for them and I will work to finally destroy the branch of the dim party known as the republicon gang. ALL of you have been warned since 2008 by those of us that are right wing extremists... no more rinos... period.

LOL! Newt, an “anti-establishment candidate”?! Maybe in Chuck Todd’s world. Their is only one candidate in the race who is truly anti-establishment. Hint: he’s the guy Todd never mentions.

This is what happened in Cali. We should have left Davis in as we were united in fighting him. Instead, we got Ah-nold and our republican legislators remained silent.

The republican leadership manufactured our primaries to do exactly what you say... they want a progressive because otherwise... they lose their wealth and power.

Re: Romney- I don’t like the blow dried SOB, either — but ANY, including that nut job Ron Paul would be better. Let’s remember all the people who wouldn’t hold their nose and vote for McPain. Are they better off now? At least McPain was an American.... Your sulk and pout and hold-my-breath-til-I-turn-blue will result in four more years of that closet Muzlim.
