Newt has been quite busy the last few years. If you want to know his stance on energy and drilling you will NOT be disappointed if you are pro-drilling check out his video works the last few years

Newt wrote much of the legislation creating the Dept of Education.

I'm still in research mode on your other claims, but the above claim is BS. The Department of Ed was created under Johnson in 1965. Newt was NOT in Congress when this occurred.

That said, if Newt is elected President expect a return to the Nixon Era of the GOP

I was not yet a teenager when Nixon was president, so my memory of this time is poor. What specifically do you mean by this?

Your premise is fatally flawed. I don't give a rat's behind if they are Latinos from Mexico, whites from Ireland or blacks from Jamaica. I agree with Newt's prior position, the one he held in 2006 wherein he said that if ILLEGAL aliens are given amnesty it would be harmful to America. Everyone I know with a working knowledge on the issue agrees with that statement.

And I am far from ignorant. I have been involved in politics in the border city of San Diego for over 30 years. I have served on commissions. I have held elected office. I have worked with some of the most intelligent and informed people in the San Diego region. And in that time I have gained more knowledge on the issue than you will ever have. But if you think calling me ignorant makes your point knock yourself out.

“And no, Newt’s rise hasn’t been steady. He jumped 20 points in 2 weeks in just about every poll.

His surge was created artificially by 2 weeks of incessant Cain bashing by the media. The problem for Newt is that the charges against Cain are mostly bogus and if adultery disqualifies Cain then Newt is a dead man walking.”

No, it’s been created by Cain’s impotence in properly addressing increasing bimbo eruptions along with his ever present “deer in the headlight” moments during interviews.

That in combination with Newt’s consistently excellent debate performances give you this result.

I like Cain but nobody will ever accuse him of being “the smartest guy in the room”.

You must be referencing different polls than I have . Newt has been in the double digits since September and has steadily gained with every Debate since then. His rise to the top has been steady, even and very much on the increase.

I have watched this very closely, so you won't convince me that your claim is even close to valid. I also have countless polling results that prove that Gingrich's rise has not just been in the last 2 weeks or sudden.

You know good an well what I mean. And you can go pick a fight with someone else. Playground logic and immaturity just don’t appeal to me. But I’m sure you will find someone else to get into it with.

Newt is only on top now because the MSM smear machine hasn't moved on to him yet. They will. While many of us around here are informed about Newt...and know what we are getting if we pull the trigger for him, that is only a blip in his poll numbers.

Give the media and the dems time. They will "remind" te rest of the GOP what it is they don't like about Newt (and re-enforce it in me)...and when it is all said an done...theie plan will succeed: A romney win.

That will leave us with an Obama victory due to third party challenges and the base sitting out. This is how it WILL play out. I am almost certain of it.

Why am I sure of it? Just look at the amount of in-fighting that has occured regarding the candidates. Whether it was Palin, Perry, Cain, Newt or Bachman...people planted their flag in the sand and have shown no willingness to compromise at all. The media and the dems have us fighting amongst ourselves more than fighting them.

I’m unable to find any reference to Newt being involved in ANWR legislation at any level. I have found information where Newt is proposing allowing drilling in ANWR, including a handbook he wrote with Vince Haley.

It's just about time for state-controlled media to pulls some imaginary Gingrich bimbos (or bimbettes, as the case may be) out of their magic Republican scandal hat.

Unless he's one that the beltway elites and media can live with. Romney just wasn't working for them.

Not saying Newt is a bad choice...just sayin'...

My list is Cain, Newt, Perry, Paul, Santorum, Bachmann and Johnson.

I will not be voting for either of the liberals (Romney or Huntsman.)

I am not set in stone on any of them.

“I like Cain but nobody will ever accuse him of being the smartest guy in the room.”

BS. There is a difference between being smart and sounding smart.

Cain was a ballistics expert for the US Navy while Newt was teaching European history.

Cain was building a successful business and creating jobs while Newt was doing tv ads with Pelosi calling for urgent actin to stop global warming.

Vote Newt, elect Obama.

Let's just pretend Newt Gingrich is that great guy who will lead us to the promised land of less corrupt, small government. Yeah, right.

Hand me those amnesia pills.

Newt is rising for the same reason that the President and a host of other GOP candidates are falling. Competence—or at the least the perception of competence. Study after study has shown that competence is one of the most admired and sought after traits in leaders and Newt is projecting it.

The President isn’t falling through the floor solely because his policies are unpopular or the economy is weak. He is falling, at least in part, because he looks (and is) incompetent.

Herman Cain isn’t sinking solely because of these allegations. Rather, he is sinking because his handling of them and other campaign issues looks incompetent.

Most people want competence—or at least the perception of it—in leadership more than they want political or ideological agreement.

That desire is part of why the President won in 2008. It’s part of why he’s losing now. And, it’s the major reason that Newt appears to the new Republican front runner.

Wrong! Editor-surveyor is correct.

Wiki:The United States Department of Education, also referred to as ED or the ED for (the) Education Department, is a Cabinet-level department of the United States government. Recreated by the Department of Education Organization Act (Public Law 96-88) and signed into law by President Jimmy Carter on October 17, 1979, it began operating on May 16, 1980.[2]

Um, NO, sorry. The Department of education was created under President Johnson. Perhaps you should look at the original legislation, and not just cherry pick what works for you.
