More than likely the money is not going directly toward his campaign, where you’re correct that it’d be capped at $2500. It’s probably going to the DNC, or a similar organization, where there basically is no limit.
The result is the same, though.

Is this ok with the owners? Just saying......Rush Limbaugh could not buy in to a football franchise because of his politics. He was stopped dead in his tracks and I believe it was instigated by the NAACP. What in the hell are the double standards in this country?
