“Here’s a question: Why do we still have military bases in Germany?”

Strategic interest. We have bases all over the world to provide closer support our troops anywhere on this planet.

“Is the Warsaw Pact resurgent?”
No. But we support our troops in the middle east from our bases in europe. We need these bases, especially those in Japan and Germany to cover the word with our supply chain.

“I sorta understand why we’re still in Korea (although they should be paying us) but Germany?! Huh?”
I think you “sorta don’t understand” why we’re still in Korea. We’re not there to defend south korea, we’re there to keep the north under control.

So everything there has changed since my two tours? I was the hotline operator (early warning intelligence analyst for the DMZ) at I Corps Group G-2 the first time and was in charge of analysis for three DPRK corps in my second tour. But why don’t you explain the situation there to me.
