Interesting how they are going to find some way to preserve a “mural” created by the rabble. That way, in another comparison to Woodstock, they will have something to remind them of those wonderful days of creative expression, community, and love.

I suppose it would be too much to ask to have a bunch of photos of the mess pasted to the back of the mural. Maybe with a loop of “Alice’s Restaurant” playing.

The Salvation Army, Rescue Missions, and other charities are asking for a lot of these same items as donations for the truly needy. (Boomboxes could have been great Christmas gifts for kids!)

To summarize, while they were camping the OWS “protestors” sucked up funds and services that could have gone to the genuinely poor and homeless. Then they discarded tons of goods that others sorely need. To top it off, they’ve wasted more of the taxpayers’ money that could have been better spent elsewhere by leaving their mess for the city to clean up. Revolting.

I was thinking the same thing. These people allegedly are pining for jobs, but they have enough disposable income to just throw away cell phones, boom boxes, furniture, tents, etc. What recession, baby?

...books and CDs, luggage and boom boxes, mattresses and dining chairs, cellphones, electric razors...

Spartan accommodations for the dedicated revolutionary. They're enough above materialism to discard the stuff but not enough above it not to own the stuff in the first place.

Where did all the freeloaders go?

292 were arrested by the LAPD, and I presume the rest fled to avoid arrest. They were given plenty of warning to pack up and move out and ignored them so their choice was clear.

From the link:

Overheard coming from a chorus of HAZMAT team members:

200 pounds of poop on the ground;
200 pound of poop;
Flush a pound, and watch it go ’round;
199 pounds of poop on the ground. . . . .

Hubby and I were at the 9/12 rally in DC and as we were leaving the grounds in front of the Capitol, someone dropped a quarter. Everyone around the person who dropped it stopped to look for the coin. Hubby found it and gave it back to the person. We all chuckled when someone commented on how different the outcome would have been if the dummies were involved.

Those 99%’ers sure seem to have a lot of disposable time and disposable possessions.
