Under the same logic, of putting our heritage on the table, how long before Rin Tin Tin is in a saucepan?

Heck, maybe we don’t even NEED a president.

As long as we’ve got the TOTUS to read us speeches and the RPOTUS to sign legislation, I say we cut out the middle-man!

A good move. There needs to be an end game for horses. Present law offers no recourse for euthanizing and properly disposing of horses.

dogfood stable

I've heard of a cabin made out of Canadian bacon, a stable made out of dog food sounds intriguing.

During WW-II, the best Chinese restaurant in Norfolk, Va (downtown, on Granby Street) was closed down after someone reported a garbage can full of cat-fur skins.

Forgot to mention that meat was among the many things that were rationed during WW-II.

When things get tough, the tough survive.

Take a look at the "Donner party" story.

You bet they will. And quick. More power to them.

Horsemeat is a traditional American food. County, city and later federal inspectors certified horsemeat supplies and suppliers for as long as there have been such inspectors. Dogs and cats are not traditional.

With Obama there is no hope for change.

Especially if it’s halalalalalalh.

Surprisingly, I checked on-line, and horse meat appears to be halal.

It is not kosher, however, because horses are not animals that "split the hoof."

And for the most part the peoples of Christian Europe have also refrained from eating horses or dogs.

That’s correct. This was a fairly hot topic in Illinois because one of the last slaughterhouses for horses was forced to close because of the previous law.

It would be nice of our elected officials get on the right side of these issues before they ruin businesses and put people out of work. In a capitalist system, businesses exist because there is a need for what they provide.

Government interference in picking winners and losers FAILS every time it’s tried.

I don’t really understand the problem with using Horse flesh for food. In the early 70s I lived in San Francisco. Beef prices had gone sky high and people (large Asian community)just couldn’t afford beef and were looking a “red meat” alternative. Locally, the nightly news was full of segments on how to cook Horse (I remember being advised to use butter in cooking Horse because the meat was leaner than beef.), the best cuts, the best places to purchase the meat, etc. The Asian culture highly values Horse flesh, and, the US exported thousands head of Horses to Japan at that time. Then, all-the-sudden, like a “bolt-from-the-blue” the politicos discovered that people actually ate Horses. What someone is cooking and eating “My Friend Flicka” or “Fury?” Let the tearing of clothes begin!
