Pelosi Calls Catholic Bishops ‘Lobbyists’—With Whom She Has ‘Some Areas of Disagreement’ By Edwin Mora December 1, 2011

(CNSNews.com) -- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) on Thursday described America’s Roman Catholic bishops as “lobbyists in Washington, D.C.” in their efforts to persuade the Department of Health and Human Service to rescind a proposed regulation under the new health-care law that would require all health care plans to cover sterilizations and all-FDA approved contraceptives, including abortifacients.

The Catholic Church teaches that sterilization, artificial contraception and abortion are morally wrong and that Catholics cannot be involved in them.

CNSNews.com asked Pelosi at her press briefing on Thursday: “In August, HHS issued a proposed regulation under the new health care law that would require that all health care plans cover sterilizations and all FDA-approved contraceptives. The U.S. Catholic Bishops have called the regulation an unprecedented attack on religious freedom and have asked HHS to drop it. Do you agree with the bishops?”

Noting that she is “a devout Catholic,” Pelosi said she sometimes disagrees with the Catholic bishops when they act as “lobbyists.”

“I don’t know if I agree with your characterization of what the HHS put forth,” Pelosi said, “but as a mother of five children in six years, as a devout Catholic, I have great respect for our bishops when they are my pastor. As lobbyists in Washington D.C., we have some areas of disagreement.

“Again,” she continued, “I don’t understand the proposal as you described it. So, I won’t be able to answer it. But I do think that it’s important for women to have the opportunity to have full reproductive health options available to them and their insurance wherever they receive it. I support the waiver that is there for the churches now.

I am a practicing Catholic as well. A good thing about the Church is that some of the liberal positions many have are up to the discretion of the individual Catholic——like just war, social justice, and capital punishment. BUT pro-life is Catholic Dogma and Pelosi’s beliefs are a heresy to the Church in that regard. She should be ex-communicated!

Make no mistake about it, Nancy has been telling God all along what He has been doing wrong. She's been telling Him for a long, long time, and He has very patiently been allowing her to make her choices against Him. He gives her another chance every day, and every day she tells Him that she knows better than He does.

Yet, we all do this to one degree or another.

it’s a shame, the Bishops and Priests don’t educate enough people on the faith.

The Bishops and Priests are too busy educating their flocks on the merits of socialism/marxism/"social justice" to bother educating them on faith. They have abrogated their duty to the Church and sold their souls to the democratic party.

How does she stay in communion with the Roman Catholic Church?

The Archbishop of San Francisco has not seen fit to excommunicate her.

How does she keep being reelected?

Her district is San Francisco. It's actually a republican form of government in action. She's the perfect representative of the hippies, faggots, dykes, communists, tree-huggers, and granola munchers that infest her district.

Her insanity knows no bounds!

This woman needs to be tossed out of the Church! I have personally had about enough of her. Devout my foot!

Pelosi can call herself a Catholic, but she's not.

Oh, but she *is*. And Mz. Nancy's going to have a very, um, spectacular conversation with The Lord when her time comes...

The mosaic below depicts Christ seated in Judgment. Titled "Christ in Majesty", It is located on the apse wall of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. At 3,600 square feet and containing nearly 3 million tiles, it is the one of the largest mosaics of Jesus in the world.

I assume Mz. Nancy has seen it from time to time - although I doubt the self-proclaimed "devout Catholic" has ever contemplated it, or even tried to imagine what it will be like to look into the Lord's face at her judgement.

Interesting commentary on the mosaic here

Thank you for posting that image, along with the commentary. I have often wondered why they chose to portray Christ with blond hair and blue eyes. Interestingly enough, we have a good historical record of our Lord's appearance.

In 544 AD, a cloth bearing an image of Jesus was discovered hidden above a gate in Edessa's city walls. Six years later, an icon, the Christ Pantocrator, was produced at St. Catherine's Monastery in the Sinai.

She’s lucky they still let her take communion.

No, she isn't. Receiving communion unworthily is a mortal sin. It's not something to be done lightly.
