What if Cain came clean

But what if there's nothing to "come clean" about? What if the whole thing is a propaganda show? Think about it. Should he lie, so people can forgive him for something he didn't do? How well would that set with a genuinely moral man? Indeed, if he tried to play along with it just to buy some fake forgiveness, I really would have no respect for him. As it is, nothing's been proven against him, he has denied it all, and we are supposed to presume innocence until otherwise notified. Losing Palin to the leftist lie machine (LLM) was bad enough. We can't let them control us like this.

Wasn’t it Saul Alinsky that said something like , in an election, destroy the opposition opponent with character attacks. I don’t have the exact quote...........sorry!

Irony can be so ironic, ironically. Especially if you receive 3 yard signs all in one day!

What is to be gained by lying about Mr. Cain, and would it be worth the risk knowing the MSM wouldn’t dig it out? Millions and millions of dollars, power, control, careers, salaries. I believe someone would cook the lie in a heart beat. I still want Mr. Cain on the ballot. And yes, the dems would count on the MSM to not investigate it.

Cain has already denied the allegations made by Ginger White.
If he recants his denial, he is done.

Your “what if”, and contrasting Cain with Edwards means nothing to Republicans.
We already know there is a MSM double standard.DUH.
I guess we find out tomorrow.
Is Herman Cain our next POTUS or not?

I question whether the allegations hurt him. Affairs or not, Cain just wasn't a serious candidate. Look, Newt has had a scandalous past, and he rose as Cain fell, so are Republicans actually turned off by Cain's alleged affairs? This sort of candidate pops up a lot--voters get excited, have a brief dalliance, then realize the guy isn't actually qualified. Obama was in that camp, but he miraculously won. Cain is what usually happens.

(As a disclosure, I'm not a supporter of any of the candidates, just someone who'll vote R in the general.)

My take on this....

1) I think that he probably did have a thing going at one time with White, that it was long over and that, for whatever reasons of guilt, fear or compassion, he has been helping her financially.

2) I do not think that this should sink him as a candidate - it will but it shouldn't.

3) He probably did say a couple of dicey things to some women back in his corporate days...but that type of banter is de riguer at corporate events with an open bar. I say, "so what".

4) I like the idea of Herman Cain as a serious contender better than I do the reality ---- 999 was always a non-starter for me.

WADR, I beg to examine some of your remarks, one by one.

1. “His standing in polls is cratering. Supporters are wavering if not fleeing. Fundraising is suffering.”

First of all; I have seen no clear evidence whether Cain’s support is cratering, or not. It may be, but there have been no reliable reports that I have seen.

2. “And, these days, the former pizza company executive is less a serious candidate than the butt of late-night comedy jokes after a string of accusations of sexually inappropriate behavior and, now, an allegation of a 13-yearlong extramarital affair.”

Which Republican candidate HAS NOT been the butt of late night comedians’ jokes?! Are we going to let the likes of Letterman select our candidate? A lady who I admire a lot, Ms. Alveda King, came out in defense of Herman Cain today, and the goods on the accuser are just now oozing out into the open. I intend to keep my powder dry and wait a little while before judging.

3, ‘”His chance at winning the presidency are effectively zero,” said Dave Welch, a Republican strategist who worked on both of John McCain’s presidential bids.’

Wow! There’s a great resume’ highlight; that he helped in the destruction of ol’ John?! The fact that Mr. Welch participated in McLame’s campaign puts him squarely in the same trash bin as Rollins, Beckel and all the other failures as campaign managers! IMHO

Cain on Hannity now, saying it’s unfair to his family and supporters to make them keep going through this. Will announce by Monday whether he quits, keeps going, or “suspend” his campaign. Says someone is payting these women, and he will find out and expose it in any case.

Newt rose as Cain fell? What kind of drugs are you on? Cain is a regular, red blooded American running for office. As such, he is despised by RINO Establsihment types and democrats alike. Their machine “seek and destroy” politics are what overpower and ruin people like Cain, Palin and eventually Bachman.

Gingrich is the antithesis to what will save America, starting with his emotional warfare that supports illegal aliens and global warming. You are out of your mind if you think Gingrich will get the base to come out and unseat Obama, and this is simply because the MSM hasn’t yet aired all the trash they have on him yet.

When the first two women came forward with past sexual harassment resolved cases I was skeptical of them. Anyone that has worked for a corporation has seen or experienced some ditsy female spouting off sexual harassment accusations at the drop of a pin, so to speak, and I thought Cain had been the recipient of same here. But his admitting to funneling money to this latest female friend secretly(unbeknown by/to his spouse) for many years doesn’t meet the smell test to me?

Cain doesn’t seem to be a viable Presidential Candidate anymore?

There’s a lot of competition to be the one who puts the final nail in Cain’s candidacy’s coffin.

The Dems just cannot take a chance on Herman capturing the nomination. If this bimbo doesn’t do the trick they will trot another one out in a couple of weeks. He is toast and I hate to see it happen.

What is to be gained by lying about Mr. Cain

Nothing, of course. Perhaps I misunderstand your point, but my point is that if in fact nothing untoward happened, Mr. Cain would be lying if he "admitted" to an affair that never actually happened. A presumption of innocence, and a claim of innocence coupled with the absence of any credible proof to the contrary, should be enough for fair-minded people to give him the benefit of the doubt.

There are really two sides, fundamentally, to this battle and this smear.

The White House/Axelrod Machine/LibDem MSM/RINO facilitators

vs.

Conservatism and The Republic.

It is a hit job, pure and simple, pure and Alinsky, pure and 1950s Stalin/USSR. From the LEFT. Originating from POLITTTTTTTTTICO..... HELLLLLOOOOO????!!!!

I am glad that only about 20% of FR is taken in by it as far as I can tell, but still, that is way too much for a Conservative, anti-MSM/Anti Lib Establishment website and forum in my humble opinion. These are sad days indeed.

AiT (going on 13 years on FR next month)
