Include me among those crazed Americans who can’t walk into Home Depot, Target or my local grocery store right now without wanting to grab a king-sized shopping cart and stuff it to the gunwales with 100-watt incandescent light bulbs.
Maybe it’s the sheer thrill of buying bulbs that in just a month, as of Jan. 1, 2012, will be banned for sale in America. What fun, in this incandescent twilight, to acquire legally what the federal government will soon treat as contraband. Or maybe it’s that gut sense that with the dollar teetering, those beloved old 100-watt bulbs will at least provide a decent store of value, even if all I do is use them to read by for the rest of my life.
First the 100-watt incandescents will vanish from the shelves. Then the 75-watt, the 60-watt and 40-watt...
Presumably, federal authorities will now be spending US tax dollars (excuse me — “creating jobs”) to deploy light-bulb cops.

It’s 43 right now. Been raining all day long.
Gonna fire the barn cat. He catches no mice!
Gets chipmunks and moles though.
I live trapped 3 mice yesterday afternoon in the barn.
They got relocated about a mile from home.
This morning I had 3 more. They went to church with me; but not all the way.
Just awhile ago when I put the animals up I had 2 more!
The cat stays away from the goats and birds and that is where the mice reside.
When a kitty, the dumb cat ‘played’ with the goats by whacking them in the snout, reaching thru gaps in the barn wall.
The four were NOT pleased! When Tiger got cocky enough to actually get in WITH the goats, little Gracie nailed him to the wall! Skittering away with 8 left, he’s not gotten in with them since!
That's right, but that's just where they are starting at. They want to ban all incandescent lights except for specialized cases (maybe things like lights in ovens or refrigerators, but I have no idea how they would keep you from putting 20 refrigerator lights in a chandelier).

you are welcome. My son and two other people have looked into starting an import business for the LEDs. Finding the right manufacturer is a daunting task, as all of them are made in China and Japan.
Hubby use to say, why does all this happen with you...then there's the story of the robin that was drinking at the edge of the pond and I wanted to see how close I could get to it before it flew off.
It didn't fly just stood quiet with its feet at the edge of the pond, I tried to pick it up but something was attached to it....Scooped my hand under the water and a small snapping turtle (about the size of my hand) caught the robin by its foot...
Found out snappers don't let go no matter what you try.Once they get a hold you cannot pry their mouths open..
Without going into the details, at last I had to cut off just the tip and claw on one toe of the robin.
Put him in the shrubs so it could recover...and hour later it was gone..We will not discuss what hubby had to do to the turtle. Didn't want a snapper in the pond anyway cause my grand kids would go wading in the shallow end...
The pond was full of blue gill and some bass. Probably why the snapper was there..
My chickens and ducks must think they are pets, ‘cause the mice seem to live in their area: eating their food and drinking their water and burrowing in their straw.
(I just let the critters loose for today and there were no mice in the trap. Maybe I’ve gotten them all...)
Hubby and I both loved that farm...

There are more regulations on how to dispose of the new bulbs than common sense.The regular ole 100 watters are at dollar general.Get them when you can.But then again after Obama is done we won’t have electric one way or another so who cares?
LAst night, I loaded up with more critter food than usual (15% off coupon).
I brought home 300 lbs of goat and bird and 16 lbs of cat chow.
(Of course there are the leftover treats of stale cheddar crackers, a bucket of popcorn and 5-6 unsliceably soft rolls [well; they WERE!].)
They are all giving you the evil eye...:O) but look like you have a nice warm lamp for them..
I didn’t name the ducks this time.
The ones from 3 years ago were Daisy And Donald; naturally!
And the two mallards were Slyvester and Daffy.
Only our little red hen has a name - Charlie; named before we knew she was a she.
I call the white chicken Whitey and the Black one Blackie.
Don’t I have a big imagination!!
