Herman Cain drops out of presidential race
LA times ^ | 3 Dec 2011

Posted on 12/03/2011 11:02:40 AM PST by mandaladon

Herman Cain, the insurgent populist whose candidacy has been ensnared by allegations of sexual impropriety, said Saturday that he is leaving the race for the Republican presidential nomination, saying that the allegations have cast a "cloud of doubt over me and this campaign."

"As of today, with a lot of prayer and soul searching, I am suspending my presidential campaign," he said at an event in Atlanta. "I am suspending my presidential campaign because of the continued distraction, the continued hurt . . . on me, on my family, not because we are not fighters, not because I am not a fighter."

Cain's campaign had sent mixed signals as to his future since Ginger White, an Atlanta woman who claims to have had an affair with Cain for more than a decade, went public with her story earlier this week. While Cain has said he has been "reassessing" his candidacy, he also, at times, has been fiercely defiant, suggesting that unnamed enemies have been trying to do him in and vowing to press forward.

"The pundits would like for me to shut up, drop out and go away," he said. "I am not going to be silenced, and I am not going away."

This is the risk we take when we embrace the unvetted.

Unhappy, but not surprised.

Yep, that’s what I’d predicted they would do to Bachmann if she ever started making inroads... get some kind of unseemly stories from one of her ‘foster kids.’ Most likely ‘anonymous’ crap from a supposed ‘friend’ of one of the foster kids. The same kind of vile nonsense and lefty fantasies that McGinniss tried trumpeting about Palin. That’s the point we’re at... totally ludicrous smears at any and all conservatives, which will be picked up by late-night comedians and spread far and wide as facts. Against anyone who might genuinely threaten the socialist ruling-class order.

Rest assured, God will be with Herman Cain & his blessed family!! We, the Cainiac, loyalists need to react. The real losers here, although they don’t realize it, is number one, American Blacks. They remain in chattel slavery, locked in on the Plantation of despair under the forever dictator thumb of POTUS Barack Hussein Obama and the Democrat Party!!! They have doomed themselves to being forever wards of the state with Big Brother, Obama telling them when to open their mouths and...when to go to the bathroom!!! Sad, but...true!!!

Number two, the next big loser is the American people in total. Our country needs a sea change!!! With Cain gone, that slows to a crawl. I hope, 100%, I am proved dead wrong, but....I doubt it. And......of course, the country sinks with each day that goes by!!!

What to do? One, boycott any Democrat, Liberal, Left-Wing media, books, newspapers, TV stations, etc. And.....come November, 2012, get your butt out and vote to defeat Obama and the entire Democrat Party. It may be your last chance. I mean it!!! Even if the Pubbies, put forth a moron, you must get out and vote and coax all who think like you to do the same!!!

Meanwhile, FNC (Fox News Channel) should hire Mr. Cain and give him and every day voice to the people. I can assure you, “The Cain Mutiny”, would be a blockbuster for FNC!!! The voice and words of Herman Cain must live on, for the benefit of Blacks, Hispanics, All minorities, Whites, etc., for freedom, liberty, education, opportunity, equality and American greatness here and around the world!!!

So please tell this NAVY Vet what we have left?

Romney is a Northeastern Republican, who like McCain would use Conservatives and then stab us in the back.
Newt is a lifelong Washington Insider and would be nothing more than a lighting rod for Democrats to regain the House.
The rest of the field is nothing more than retreads and kooks, who are bottom feeders anyway.

No matter how I look at it now in anyway, Conservatives get screwed and Obama or at least his policies get a second term!

Any GOP candidate will be attacked, attacked and attacked again by the MSM in order to prop up their affirmative action candidate (they aren’t racist, ya know). Well, I have problems with Newtie’s womanizing behavior. - If Cain was innocent, he should have stayed in the race; but that’s over. I just feel sorry for Mrs. Cain and hope none of these accusations are even remotely true.

Having said all that, I will crawl over glass to vote for ABO, (Anybody But Obama). Newt has his plusses; one being that he now seems to recognize that his posing with Pelosi on the couch was a big mistake.

I have problems with Romneycare and his refusal to call it a mistake when it’s just an evil twin of Obamacare with some of the same originators. I have other problems with Romney; not the least of which is the GOP establishment stamp of inevitability.

I am a Conservative always, but don’t tell me there is a Conservative, who is willing to listen to us among this bunch and I refuse to take the advice of those drive-by Republicans, who suggest I hold my nose and vote for some moderate piece of crap like Bob Dole or George W. Bush again because some of something is better than nothing!

I am with you...I think the other 2 accusations were just that...but this last one, 13yr friendship with 70 plus phone calls(leaves a record) probably had some teeth in it....if this was just another false one, why would he give up so after all he has been thru?

I am sad that he gave up...the left now knows just throw out false accusations to take a conservative down...But I also sad because Cain did this to himself. He ran knowing this friendship of 13yrs existed, didn’t tell his wife until just now, and really thought it wouldn’t come out. Lot of people were behind him and he just led folks on a wild goose chase.

Perhaps if Newt is the nominee, he will pick Cain...who knows.....

Just sad and disappoointed....

We have a candidate that has been a successful governor for ten years, strongly believes that states asserting their rights are the solution of an vastly over reaching government.

He just can’t debate. I think he would make a kick ass president personally.

Cain was an outsider with executive experience, the perfect combo for me.

Which is exactly why I supported him too. There is no rest for the weary however. He's out of the race, and I hold no fantasies about "drafting" him back in, like some of Palin's supporters STILL believe is a viable option WRT her (ensuring the destruction of our nation in their delusion).

As was pointed out upthread, this is not a game, it's not reality TV, it's actual real life. I'm not giving up on the notion of electing a true conservative until there are literally none left. I encourage everyone else reading this to be equally pragmatic. It's time to quit playing games WRT our "fave".

This isn't high school; we aren't electing the Prom king and queen.

“The same was done to Ryan in Chicago, when Obungler was running for the Senate.”

Said ex-wife of same now living in France, where extradition to the US is not possible. Remarried to a chef, with at least one daughter. And where are the two little children Ryan had with her that were so important “to protect” from Ryan being re-elected?

And to Sarah, on any possible front: frivolous lawsuits, ‘infidelity,’ Trig, Bristol.

H3ll, even Joe Miller almost lost his life THE NIGHT OF HIS WINNING THE PRIMARY in Alaska.

People, 0bama was introduced as a legitimate Presidential candidate via a YouTube cult song, “I love Barack 0bama,” sung by a white girl with big boobs.

We now have another story about the MSM covering up for a white Democrat affair. NEW FEDERAL PROBE! NEW MEX GOV HAD JOHN EDWARDS PROBLEM?

There are now TWO Democrat presidential candidates whose ALLEGATIONS of affairs were hidden by the MSM until years after it mattered, while a current Republican candidate with an ALLEGATION of an affair was hounded out before the primary was over.

One has to ask what would have happened if Edwards or Richardson had made it to the nomination? At least they were given the opportunity to convince the voters based on their positions.

Cain was robbed of that equal treatment.

I really hate to put this so bluntly, but given how Cain spoke about where he began, with his father as a chauffer and his mother as a maid growing up in segregation, seeing how the Democrat MSM covered for two white men like Richardson and Edwards, the powers that be just told Cain to go back to the colored drinking fountain.

It is most disheartening. Sadly Mr. Cain never sounded
more presidential than he did this afternoon.

Time to draft Sarah Palin.
If there were a large enough outcry perhaps she
would change her mind.

Of course I could still hope for a Palin/Cain Cain/Palin
ticket in 16 but by then the damage would be horrendous.

I agree. GOP just plays to darn nice; the Dems fight like pit-bulls and the GOP fights like labrador retriever. They turned their back on TEA Party supporters, true Americans from all walks of life.

Not one word from members of Congress on how Cain was destroyed; no support, no comments, etc.

I wish some rich conservative, true GOP’s would buy up media and newpapers to stop the liberal attack machines.

We need more O’Keefe’s, Breibarts, etc.

“Oh NOW Innocent until proven guilty is the standard?”

You obviously have a very tenuous grip on reality.

Cain admitted having paid this woman’s expenses.
He admitted his wife didn’t know about it.
The woman was obviously going to be able to produce proof that he had done so.
He had texted/phoned her repeatedly.
The woman was obviously going to be able to produce proof that he had done so.

That isn’t something a happily married man does, in the eyes of most women, and most men, and certainly most conservatives. It’s not proof he cheated. Cain’s not proven guilty. But he doesn’t have to be in the court of public opinion, and that’s the most important court in politics, not legal courts. Anyone running for office or pushing a candidate for office knows that is how it works.

And you know it, too. That’s why you, MN, are regularly all over FR spreading whatever slime you can make up about every candidate you oppose. But your smears just happen to be b.s. about 99% of the time. Unlike this slime, which stuck to Cain because it just happens to true—or at least truthful enough that the average conservative doesn’t buy Cain’s excuses.

When you’ve killed yourself, it’s a suicide, not a lynching. Cain’s got nobody but himself to blame.
