http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/11/would-herman-cain-be-newt-gingrichs-running-mate/249138/

11/28/11:
>>It’s mid-2012. Newt Gingrich has won the Republican primary. (Thought experiment — play along.) Who does he choose as his running mate?

The former House speaker has said — only partly in jest — that he might like to share the ticket with fellow candidate Herman Cain.

Gingrich and Cain participated in a two-man “debate” that was more like a lovefest in Texas earlier this month, and before it began, they struck the classic running-mate pose: adjacent arms around each other’s waists, outside arms waving, like a two-headed presidential monster.

“I want you all to know, we both think you just saw the ticket, but we disagree about which of us has which job,” Gingrich said.

Cain added, “So let’s hold our hands up one more time like this. We’re just sayin’!”

Constitutional problem—the electors must cast votes for individuals from two different states—which is why Cheney high-tailed it back to Wyoming after having lived in Texas for a long time. Who will leave Georgia, or will they write off its votes in the veep spot if it turns out to be down to the last vote?

btw in MA there were several terms for D gov Mike Dukakis then in ‘90 he chose not to run and the next few governors were Republicans—Bill Weld, Paul Cellucci, and Jane Swift
(Swift not elected: Became acting gov when Cellucci became
ambassador to Canada).
Not conservatives—remember this is Massachusetts, and the next conservative Republican will be... the first one.

The Left condemned them for being “Rethuglicans” for trying (at least it seemed that way) to cut government. Weld, to his credit, did wipe out some Registry of Motor Vehicle fees and made some Mass Turnpike tolls “free”. Trying to privatize some state functions led to bumper stickers saying
“Privatization: A Weld $cam”. Again, these were RINOs but in MA they were considered far right wackos. And yet they
did win. But Jane Swift was a disaster with positive ratings of, what, 10 per cent?

In came Romney on a white horse to save the day. Neither he nor his Lt Gov Kerry Murphy Healey (they only served one term) accepted a salary. We got our money’s worth.

Anyway, Mitt (who ran vs. Ted Kennedy in ‘94) would not have become gov. had it not been for the sad state of
the MA GOP in allowing the inexperienced Jane Swift
to get the job (and thus create the need for Romney.)

Well, I hope Newt returns the favor and picks Cain for VP.

Give Cain a good job....give the VP nod to Col. West.
