Pelosi plans to reveal information about Gingrich 'when the time is right' By Alicia M. Cohn - 12/05/11 11:44 AM ET

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is holding back some information on Republican Newt Gingrich that could detract from his presidential campaign, according to a report published Monday.

“One of these days we’ll have a conversation about Newt Gingrich,” Pelosi told Talking Points Memo. “When the time is right. … I know a lot about him. I served on the investigative committee that investigated him, four of us locked in a room in an undisclosed location for a year. A thousand pages of his stuff.”

Gingrich, who served as Speaker of the House, worked with Pelosi in Congress from 1987 to 1999. Pelosi also served on the ethics committee that investigated Gingrich for tax cheating and campaign finance violations in the late ’90s.

Gingrich filmed an ad with then-House Speaker Pelosi in 2008 to urge action on climate change, which haunted him early in his presidential bid this year. Gingrich called the ad “probably the dumbest single thing I’ve done in recent years” last month.

Republicans in Congress have been slow to rally around Gingrich’s rise to front-runner status in the polls, with former GOP colleague Sen. Tom Coburn (Okla.) stating publicly over the weekend he is not “inclined to be a supporter” of Gingrich due to that past experience.

But Democrats such as the soon-to-retire Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) have suggested Gingrich as the GOP nominee would benefit the Democratic Party.

"He would be the best thing to happen to Democrats since Barry Goldwater," Frank said last week. Goldwater is credited with reviving Republican conservatism in the ’60s.

Pelosi told Talking Points Memo that Frank “spoke for a lot” of Democrats. “I like Barney Frank’s quote the best, where he said ‘I never thought I’d live such a good life that I would see Newt Gingrich be the nominee of the Republican party,’ ” she said.

And Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.), who also served in Congress with Gingrich and now holds a position of power as assistant minority leader in the House, charged Gingrich on Monday with lacking the temperament to be president.

“He tends to fly off the handle. He will say almost anything in order to get a charge. I’m sure that he’s not serious when he says a lot of these things,” Clyburn said on MSNBC.

Sure. And the Catholic Church “annulled” his first marriage too. The one to whom he had kids born. So he could maryy some more.

Convenient, eh?

“It’s time for Sarah to get back in the race. She’s already had her life and background fully exposed and there’s no there there.

Newt has too many skeletons and the opposition know where they are.”

I agree... Sarah’s lost a lot of her luster, but compared to the clowns that ARE running, a Palin candidacy would be a godsend.

I recall Gingrich agreed to settle that one by paying $300k, but even the IRS decided there was no violation of the 503(c) rules, and declined to take any action against Gingrich.

Clarification:

The IRS was investigating the corporation that had employed/contracted with Gingrich.

The House Ethics Committee was investigating Gingrich. It was the House Ethics Committee that assessed the $300k fine that Gingrich paid in installments, some of which was borrowed from Bob Dole.

The smear machine is in full throttle mode for 2012.

How about a background investigation of the Delesandro Family of Baltimore, and their Organized Crime control, with daughter Nancy swinging into politics with her Dad's muscle?

Can we have some of that out here, too?

Or, better yet, her steering of Legislation to make Millions for her Husband's employer and her Husband? Can we have some info from the State-Run-Media on that, too?

If you are a Catholic and have money or power ( or in her case both) you can behave any way you like and the church looks the other way. Not so for the “little people.” But then the Catholic Church has company, the Mormon Church allows Harry Reid to remain a member in good standing despite all of his variances with respect to his churches teachings. Oh well, most, if not all churches are Marxist/Socialist at their core so it all makes sense.

You've got that right. Nonetheless, it's revealing that somtthing like the next 100 + posts didn't respond to you.

Vaya con Dios

You are very ignorant of basic facts.....that trash book alleging Palin had affairs and drugs...etc was found to be false, the author admitted in a email that he couldn’t find any proof. Basically all of things said about Palin wre false unlike some of the things said about Cain where it was true at least he gave money to a woman for years

bound by restrictions on the release of statements, documents, and testimony

In Washington?

Seriously?

Washington is the leak capitol of the world.

If they want any documents out, they will find a way. Heck, Sandy Bergler could probably be hired, if needed.

I like West as a VP running mate. There are a lot to chose from such as Rep Steve King of Iowa. We keep hearing those who say they had rather have Obama than Gingrich or Romney or ___________. They have a constitutional and God given right to vote for the person of their choice or not vote. Well, there is that right but it is becoming clear that the rights in this country is on the road to destroying our rights. Isn’t that ironic? I also have the notion that some of the people saying what they say are actually Obama supporters or anarchists or skinheads or revolutionaries of one sort or another. Or they are just plain stupid. They are not patriots.

The Scorpion and the Frog

One day, a scorpion looked around at the mountain where he lived and decided that he wanted a change. So he set out on a journey through the forests and hills. He climbed over rocks and under vines and kept going until he reached a river.

The river was wide and swift, and the scorpion stopped to reconsider the situation. He couldn't see any way across. So he ran upriver and then checked downriver, all the while thinking that he might have to turn back.

Suddenly, he saw a frog sitting in the rushes by the bank of the stream on the other side of the river. He decided to ask the frog for help getting across the stream.

"Hellooo Mr. Frog!" called the scorpion across the water, "Would you be so kind as to give me a ride on your back across the river?"

"Well now, Mr. Scorpion! How do I know that if I try to help you, you wont try to kill me?" asked the frog hesitantly.

"Because," the scorpion replied, "If I try to kill you, then I would die too, for you see I cannot swim!"

Now this seemed to make sense to the frog. But he asked. "What about when I get close to the bank? You could still try to kill me and get back to the shore!"

"This is true," agreed the scorpion, "But then I wouldn't be able to get to the other side of the river!"

"Alright then...how do I know you wont just wait till we get to the other side and THEN kill me?" said the frog.

"Ahh...," crooned the scorpion, "Because you see, once you've taken me to the other side of this river, I will be so grateful for your help, that it would hardly be fair to reward you with death, now would it?!"

So the frog agreed to take the scorpion across the river. He swam over to the bank and settled himself near the mud to pick up his passenger. The scorpion crawled onto the frog's back, his sharp claws prickling into the frog's soft hide, and the frog slid into the river. The muddy water swirled around them, but the frog stayed near the surface so the scorpion would not drown. He kicked strongly through the first half of the stream, his flippers paddling wildly against the current.

Halfway across the river, the frog suddenly felt a sharp sting in his back and, out of the corner of his eye, saw the scorpion remove his stinger from the frog's back. A deadening numbness began to creep into his limbs.

"You fool!" croaked the frog, "Now we shall both die! Why on earth did you do that?"

The scorpion shrugged, and did a little jig on the drownings frog's back.

"I could not help myself. It is my nature."

Then they both sank into the muddy waters of the swiftly flowing river.

Let’s be realistic....the Democrats have abused the power of the presidency to collect information on every potential candidate. They plan on soiling every candidate until Mitt Romney is the only candidate standing.

Republicans are going to have to disregard the “dirty revelations” and stand behind their candidates. Sad, but it is the truth.

Pelosi: “ A thousand pages of his stuff.”

Believe it before we read it?

After she snitches - I hope to see the ‘couch photo’ prominently displayed in the MSM as often as it has been posted & used on FR to slam Newt.

Gingrich can win over Obama. The race has Nothing to do with the Republican candidate. It is and will be all about Obama. All reelections are about the incumbent and on any level, except for the true believers of 40%, he is a loser!

It doesn’t occur to her that it’s unethical to play such games, after all, if there’s information that would impact the voting choices of anybody then they deserve to get that information promptly. Of course though, she’s going to “withhold until the time is right”...which is after Newt is the GOP candidate.

...she thinks it’s all a game, no class. No Surprise.

The Washington establishment considers Newt a pathetic joke. They forced him out of of the Speakership and ridiculed him constantly. Yet, Newt still cares more about the Washington insiders than he does the honest Americans who are struggling.

100% right.

>>Yeah, I think Newt’s baggage might be enough to sink him.

I think the Republican’s best bet may be to define the choice as this:

Democats = “Dirt” + NO JOBS

Republicans = “Dirt” + JOBS
