WALTHAM, Mass. -- A Lowell man is under arrest and accused of lying to police about being a high-ranking official in the Marines.
The man told an officer that pulled him over that he was trying to collect toys for the organization Toys for Tots. He was even wearing a uniform and medals he did not earn.
The officer that pulled the man over was a former Marine himself and he was not fooled by the mans disguise.
The man was arrested on his way to Shoppers Café in Waltham. The restaurant was holding a Toys for Tots event and the supposed Staff Sergeant was supposed to pick up the toys.
Half way through the night someone got a phone call and said that theyre not coming. Apparently he was a fraud and got arrested on the way here, said Lauren Rutledge of Shoppers Café.
Detectives said they got suspicious of the man and all the medals of valor he wore on his uniform.
Detectives said the 41-year-old man was dishonorably discharged from the Marines but when he was arrested he was wearing a high ranking Marines uniform. He allegedly wore that uniform at toy stores to collect donations for Toys for Tots.

Make him go through Marine boot camp 7 or 8 times.
A Sergent is not a High rank.
My Son is a Master Sergent and he is not “High Ranking”.
A friend is a Chief Master Sergeant/E-9, but she’s Air Force, so she barely qualifies as high ranking.
Is to a a private "dishonorably discharged from the Marines"
PS, an E-7 or E-8 Master Sergent is pretty high ranking in this former O-3's eyes. Give him my best and God's blessings on him and his men.
To me, a Sergeant is a high rank. More specifically, any Marine is a high rank! God bless your son and all the other brave men and women who serve to keep us safe and free!
This fake needs his butt whupped in a big way.
AMEN to that. Had Chesty as a CO back when, he was some Marine.
That's because the Senior NCOs don't release the REAL story until you get on the Major's list. ;)
If you have to call him 'Sir', he's got rank. Nobody in their right mind calls an NCO 'sir'. Ergo, no NCO can have 'high rank'. They can however, be older than dirt and persistant as hell. (and make more money than a butter-bar)
See? Even old E-6's can't help but explain to earnest young officers. ;)
I hope they burn this guy for fraud. Apparently, according to the Supremes, stolen valor is ok. Fraud is still a no-no.

Your friend is too modest. She probably has the ear of the unit commander, and most of the commanders on base. I retired recently as a Senior Master Sergeant/E-8, and the unit commander either stopped by my office or called me to his office at least twice a week. I was on a first name basis with the base Command Chief, he called me 'Mike' and I called him 'Sir'.
A daisy air rifle is not an assault weapon either.
But if you are a Girbilist, both are true.
My Son is a Master Sergent and he is not High Ranking.
It's a whole lot higher ranking than scum and that's what was trying to steal the rank of Master Sargeant
Beer, beer, beer said the privates...
Once saw a Major call a Chief Master Sergeant “Sarge.” That Major learned very quickly how high up a Chief really is.
“The army’s fair, but they can’t compare to Marine Corps Infantry!”
Which leads to this weeks matchup: Go Navy Beat Army!
;)

Hands down, Navy victory, Sir!
