* Republican presidential hopeful's actions unprecedented
* Aides purchased hard drives of state-issued computers
* Emails and other communications wiped from servers

WASHINGTON, Dec 5 (Reuters) - Mitt Romney spent nearly $100,000 in state funds to replace computers in his office at the end of his term as governor of Massachusetts in 2007 as part of an unprecedented effort to keep his records secret, Reuters has learned.
The move during the final weeks of Romney's administration was legal but unusual for a departing governor, Massachusetts officials say.
The effort to purge the records was made a few months before Romney launched an unsuccessful campaign for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008. He is again competing for the party's nomination, this time to challenge Barack Obama for the presidency in 2012.

The New York Slimes went for "crowdsourcing" all of Palin's official emails, and swept it under the rug when it showed how good and conscientious of a governor she was.
Let's all listen for the crickets from the MSM on this comparison, shall we?
Cheers!
“Hmmmmm. Dude must be ashamed of his record, hey?”
I have absolutely no use for Romney, and won’t vote for him even in a general election against Obama. However, with politics and dirt digging reaching its all time low, I don’t blame the guy. Sometimes the most innoculous email, out of context, can look really bad. I think all persons leaving office should do this....innocent though they may be.
We all saw Palin’s e-mails. Romney is a joke.
“Time to go with Huntsman guys.”
Huntsman is toast. He just doesn’t know it yet.
Do you get paid per post?
I’d break out the zig-zag machine and blunts and vote for Gary Johnson before Huntsman.
Only Governor Sarah Palin was PROVED sqeaky clean.
But look what she had to go through.
EXACTLY RIGHT!!!!!
Only Governor Sarah Palin was PROVED completely honest and squeaky clean.
Try as they did, all they were able to find was a hard working, honest Governor!
My first thought was that the same as you poted. My second thought was that if Romney were really smart, he could just say he was trying to make sure there was no reference to Larry Sinclair and Tony Rezko, or Jermiah Wright and Raila Odinga.
“The move during the final weeks of Romney’s administration was legal but unusual for a departing governor, Massachusetts officials say. “
So who are the anonymous “officials” and where do they get the authority to decide that massive destruction of records, public government records, is “legal”?
Maybe it is but I’d like to see that backed up with citations from state law. Many states have specific records retention statutes.
As for protecting himself, if a dem governor did that, we’d all think it very skeevy.
Let’s take, for example, Governor Blanco. Let’s pretend that she wiped all the Katrina records from her computers when she left office.

I hope we don’t get stuck with this d-bag as the Republican candidate. He’s worse than juan mclame.
We won’t vote Mormon. Joseph Smith liked girls. He dictated the book of mormons behind a curtain paraphrasing the Bible. There is no Maroni. There is the risen Christ. There is salvation if you believe he is the Son of God and the sacrifice and atonement for your sorry sins. Romney is gone. Vote Newt or Obammy wins. Suck it up. There is no one else.
The state of Kennedy made it legal for politicians to cover their tracks on the way out. In most states, he'd be standing in front of a judge in handcuffs explaining his misappropriation of funds.
LOL!
What's really sad is how much got out and people still looked the other way to vote for him. It's a real lesson in where wishful thinking gets you. I really hope all, or even a few, of those college kids learned a lesson.
I wouldn’t vote for Huntsman for dog catcher!
Oh, say, how's that investigation into Obama's records coming along? Still nothing? Ah, well. Keep giving it that old college try.
LOL yea OK, Huntsman. ARF
