What a sad decline of a once great nation.

I beg to differ. The British were "great" in size only. The power that the British Empire wielded through the centuries was won through ruthlessness and hatred for what they considered 'lower' people.
Might does not make right. I hold nothing but disdain for what the Brits were and what they have become. They could have been great but decided long ago to subjugate. They may have been a great people but as a nation they were sorely lacking.
This a personal opinion only. You have yours, I have mine.

Every former colony of GB is now a successful(relatively speaking) country. No other colonial power can say that.

Well said and I totally agree - the long history of British conquests and genocide is not pretty, yet their arrogance is undiminished. Excellent tagline, by the way.

Compare the UK's current relationships with former colonies with those of Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal. See "British Commonwealth".

Being of Scottish descent and having studied the history of the abuses that the Scots received at the hands of England both at home and in America, I have to agree whole-heartedly with your estimation of the Brits. The cruelty and arrogance that they ruled America with was the reason we kicked their arses back to England.

Firstly, the British were (and still imo are) great. It was the British who created the modern world, started the industrial revolution, were at the forefront of science, literature, art. A navy second to none. An army which conquered the world, defeating all armies but one. A power that was THE superpower for 300 years and only abrogated that power within living memory.

Secondly, spare me your whining about subjugation. What did America do to build its nation?. Answer: subjugate the ‘lower peoples’ of the North American Indian.

Thirdly, the British people you sneer at are the people who stood alone against the Nazis, suffered bombings in two world wars, have been murdered by IRA terrorists, and above all they are the people who in their millions went to the four corners of the globe and built many great nations, including your own.

No, the British were great, occasionally still are, and the world should be thankful we existed and exist.
