Rick Perry Says Human Rights for Gays ‘Not in America’s Interests’
ABC ^ | December 6, 2011 | Arlette Saenz

Posted on 12/06/2011 1:41:04 PM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Texas Gov. Rick Perry said today that using foreign aid to combat human rights abuses against homosexuals in foreign countries is “not in America’s interests” and attacked President Obama’s decision to require U.S. agencies operating abroad to promote equal rights for gays as part of the administration’s “war on traditional American values.”

“Just when you thought Barack Obama couldn’t get any more out of touch with America’s values, AP reports his administration wants to make foreign aid decisions based on gay rights. This administration’s war on traditional American values must stop,” Perry said in the statement. “Promoting special rights for gays in foreign countries is not in America’s interests and not worth a dime of taxpayers’ money.”

Perry moved beyond the national security implications of the decision and honed in on what he deemed to be an attack on “traditional American values.”

“But there is a troubling trend here beyond the national security nonsense inherent in this silly idea,” he said. “This is just the most recent example of an administration at war with people of faith in this country. Investing tax dollars promoting a lifestyle many [Americans] of faith find so deeply objectionable is wrong. President Obama has again mistaken America’s tolerance for different lifestyles with an endorsement of those lifestyles. I will not make that mistake.”

“Ok, I see, Rick Perry wants to give lots of foreign aid to Islamic nations in the Middle East who abuse the rights of gays by throwing them in prison and violently crack down on gay gatherings, but are also strong allies of the United States?”

How on earth do you arrive at that conclusion from the article? Scratching my head a bit...

Rick Perry Says Human Rights for Gays ‘Not in America’s Interests’

What BS. I personally consider homosexuality to be an abomination. But I wouldn't deny them life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness. Isn't there some middleground between marching around on public streets with feathers up their @$$e$, or pouring blood on the steps of St. Patrick's, and granting these folks "rights" that the rest of us never thought we had?

I’m on his pray ping list. I pray for him.

I wanted to know “What is wrong with you?” for jumping on the thread like that.

He’s opposed to the expressed reason for doing it. Why not do it because they are killing Christians? Obama and Clinton don’t give a damn about Christians who are killed and driven into exile.

Don’t get me wrong: If Governor Perry were the nominee, I’d vote for him. Anyone running, save for Wrong Paul, would be an improvement over Obama/Biden. And that’s another thing ... Texas has a very weak governorship, which was part of the problem with Dubya.

Wrong, passed by the Texas legislature not Rick Perry. Try doing some research, the truth might surprise you.

Gays alleged “human rights” for them to triumph means the human rights proven through 5000+ years of Judeo_Christian (Christian-Judeo) civilization get decimated. Where are our human rights? Proven human rights of proven and reliable man+woman marriage? Where are the majority rights of normal people? Gays mock all of this

**** People who are fixated on anuses (gay sex) are idiots and children. Sigmund Freud had something to say about this

It is not in America’s interest to champion the rights of homosexuals while ignoring that Jews and Christians are the principle victims of radical Islam, even more so than women.

The other part of of his problem was this guy.

Perry's made every appointment he is allowed as governor and has built a strong office. The Lt. Gov office is strong too -- as was set up in many southern states.

Pull the plug, Ricardo. Worry about getting re-elected to your current position.

It is a VERY misleading headline.

Read the article before commenting. It is a very good habit to use.
