I am sure the MOD was well aware of the sticker price on the 2 MMRCA contenders. If price was to be such a major issue they shouldn’t have kicked out the Gripens or F-16s so quickly. If the MMRCA deal falls through at this stage, the IAF would be in a major soup against a rapidly expanding Pak and Chinese airforce. The MOD better not cancel the deal and buy whatever is available at whatever price. Seems like India is about to lose her strong bargaining position after all that charade.

Why does almost every picture of the Rafale (and sometimes the Typhoon) show the canards in some kind of down trim?

Did they not design or rig the plane straight?

The one good thing in India’s favour is that the two shortlisted contenders are about the most desperate of all manufacturers. Even Mig may survive given it’s low cost systems and huge stocks of legacy Migs due for upgrades. If we play our cards right, the MOD can squeeze out bargains on both price and technology from EADS and Dassault.
