Ron Paul Tells Newsmax: I Support Israel

In an exclusive Newsmax interview, Congressman and Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul confirmed his support for Israel, but cautioned that while the United States should be a “friend” of the Jewish state, America should not be the “master” of Israel.

Paul also says the United States should not dictate Israel’s borders or try to “buy her allegiance” with massive amounts of foreign aid. He argued that foreign aid has actually hurt – not helped – the Jewish state.

The interview was conducted by Newsmax contributor Doug Wead, a presidential historian and New York Times best-selling author.

Paul has recently come under fire from some Jewish groups in America. The Republican Jewish Coalition banned Paul from a debate on Jewish issues in Washington this week because of his “misguided and extreme views,” according to the group’s executive director, Matt Brooks.

Newsmax chatted with Paul to get his side of the issue as the Texas Republican is surging in some presidential polls.

A new Washington Post-ABC News survey in Iowa shows him threatening Mitt Romney as the second-leading candidate behind Newt Gingrich. Paul is now tied with Romney in the early caucus state with 18 percent of the vote, behind Gingrich’s 33 percent.

Rep. Paul’s interview with Newsmax follows:

Has certainly been one strange primary season. Have spoken with several supporters of Ron Paul. The one thing which have found in the conversations is consistency in their beliefs and in Paul, and their belief of Paul’s consistency. Thus far, having trouble not finding consistency in Paul.

“If they start a war”

Interesting place for you to start an assumption.

Is it all lies?

If so, please provide a link which shows another GOP candidate receiving more from the U.S. Military.

Thanks!

This has been Dr. Paul's stance all along. Not just on Israel, but for all of our Allies. Regardless of sh*t people have said he "means", this is what his voting record upholds.

And I agree. I didn't agree when Clinton was trying to broker a "peace deal" by strong arming Isreal. I didn't like it when Bush did the same.

Leave 'em alone and sell 'em all the "beans and bullets" they need to protect themselves. We need to stop being Globo-cop before it destroys us altogether.

Grunthor - “I believe that his ideas on defense will get a hell of a lot of innocent Americans killed.

cowtowney - “our present ideas on defense are doing a pretty good job of getting Americans killed.”

Now I wonder if the casual reader can see the intellectual dishonesty in what you did there.

“What do you believe are his ideas on defense?”

He wants to withdraw the United States from the world militarily. This is a point that while I WANT to agree with him on it...I cannot. Look at the history of the U.S. foreign policy prior to WW2. After WW1 we tried to do just that, withdraw. Had we been more forceful in the world in the 20’s and 30’s the second world war may not have been necessary.

Furthermore; he would not launch a pre-emptive attack upon an enemy that intel showed was clearly plotting an attack on the U.S. homeland. I believe that he would fight back afterwards, but even that would be more like a police action than a war. He’s very weak on defense, and frankly a lot of his supporters know it but they, being basically liberal except on financial issues don’t care.

There really IS evil in the world my FRiend, wether or not libertarians want to admit it.

He also supports legalizing full auto machine guns. Can't have that either. Too much freedom is scary.

(Do I really need a sarcasm tag?)

“Is it all lies?”

No, it’s misinformation. Propaganda, if you will.

“If so, please provide a link which shows another GOP candidate receiving more from the U.S. Military.”

Civilians working for the military are NOT THE U.S. MILITARY.

“Thanks!”

Your very welcome.

OK, then you should be able to easily back that up with a link that shows otherwise.

Thanks!

My point is not that Paul is not getting this money.

Or even that someone else is getting more from the same group.

My point is that you are misleading and engaging in propaganda. You have been educated on this subject, I amd sure that I am not the first to point out to you that civilians wrking for the military are NOT “the U.S. Military.

You have clearly never served because you are so tragically ignorant of this. Either that or you are a dmaned liar.

I choose to give you the benefit of the doubt and believe that you are “purposefully ignorant.”

Where is your link to dispute this?

You've been asked repeatedly to show a link and or provide evidence that another GOP candidate received more contributions from the U.S. Military.

You said this was all propaganda.

Put up or shut up.

Wow. Paul is getting desperate. Rips off the mask and reveals the two-faced, double talking, baby kissing, whore of a lying politician hiding beneath. He’s delusional enough to think he actually has a shot at obtaining the reins of power.

Good grief. Just think of the great things a libertarian could do if he could wield all that power. He could single-handedly end all wars and bring everlasting peace and goodwill to all nations and all men. Peace, bro.

He could legalize pot and ensure the pursuit of happiness and high highs for all. He could legalize prostitution and make street walking legal and safe and a respected institution throughout the land. He could make sure that gay marriage is legal and safe and is a respected institution in all 57 states. States shouldn’t be involved in marriage anyway.

Even though he is personally pro-life, he’d ensure that the “constitutional right” to abort your baby is left intact. He’d not lift a libertarian finger to stop it. People are free to do as they wish. Live free, live high, love hard, die young and leave a beautiful memory.

And he admitted in the last debate that he would do nothing about the entitlement spending. You can’t just suddenly pull all that stuff back that helpless people have depended on for generations and leave people to fend for themselves. But he would do all in his power to scrap our army and navy pull our troops home from around the world and dramatically slash defense spending to the bone.

He’d make friends with Iran and all the Islamic nations. They’re really begging to be our friends, you know. And it really was our fault that they attacked us on 9/11 (with the help of George Bush who secretly wired demolition charges at the WTC. It’s a proven scientific fact that fire cannot melt steel or collapse buildings. Alex Jones told me so).

Never mind that tiny Jewish nation that’s surrounded by blood thirsty Jew-haters. They’re not much worth worrying about anyway. It’s time America worries only about our own self-interests only. A stabilized middle east is not necessarily in our best interest.

Hmmmm... maybe he does have a shot at the presidency. All he has to do is convince about five percent of the voters (legally here, legally registered, or not) to become paultard spambots in the voting booth. Vote early, vote often. Electronic voting on the Internet, anyone?

“He wants to withdraw the United States from the world militarily.”

False.

Criminey, is there no middle ground in your world between being the world’s policeman and being an isolationist? Do you see no harm in having 150 bases around the world? Have you read Sun Tzu? Do you see that the USA IS BANKRUPT?
