Two generations ago Staten Island was a quiet, quasi boring neo-suburban enclave within the administrative boundaries of the City of New York. Now it is much more “diverse.” And so it goes......

Yes. I was going to say, even before seeing those pictures, that the Dem city leadership must have put in a considerable effort to diversify the neighborhood.

Staten used to be a quiet, dull, reliably Republican borough.

Having graduated from St Peters I can appreciate what you’re saying. Prior to 1965 it was a fairly isolated place. My father and uncle both graduated for there. I knew the families of the people my father and mother grew up with and dated.
Mariners Harbor would have been all Italian and Irish back then.
