in the 1994 election, Newt was off and running, giving a series of Fidel Castro-style speeches about "the Third Wave information revolution."

What's the matter with Ann? I remember the day after the '94 election that Newt was recommending that every American should understand the greatness of George Washington by reading Flexner's Indispensable Man; and the wisdom of the Framers by reading the Federalist Papers.

Surely Newt is a flawed candidate. But that's not the same thing as being a failed governor; or columnist.
