McCain Says He Didn’t Know Defense Bill He Approved Repealed Military Ban on Sodomy, Bestiality
CNS News ^ | 7 December 2011 | Elizabeth Harrington

(CNSNews.com) - Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, told CNSNews.com on Wednesday that he did not know that the 926-page Defense Department authorization bill that came through his committee and was approved by the Senate last week on a 93-to-7 vote included a provision that would repeal the military’s ban on sodomy and bestiality if the bill becomes law.

CNSNews.com asked McCain: “Senator, did you read the Defense authorization bill that was passed last week? Were you aware of the language that repealed the ban on sodomy and bestiality?”

“On what?” McCain replied.

CNSNews.com followed up: “The repeal of the ban on sodomy and bestiality in the military, were you at all aware of that?”

“I’ll have to ask my folks,” McCain said. “I—I will check on it and have, and he’ll get back to you.”

CNSNews.com then asked: “You don’t agree with that language?”

“I don’t, I don’t know what you’re—honestly. I read the bill. And I was there for many hours of deliberation and debate and amendments. And probably spent hundreds of, several hundred hours on it. But that particular provision I did not know. So we’ll have, we’ll get back to you. We’ll get back to you. Just call.”

As CNSNews.com previously reported, the bill that was first approved by the Armed Service Committee, where McCain is ranking member, and then on the Senate floor, where McCain voted for it, does in fact include a provision repealing the military’s ban on sodomy and bestiality.

Page 174 of the bill includes a provision headlined in capital letters: “REPEAL OF SODOMY ARTICLE.” Click here to see a PDF of the page.

The provision states: “Section 925 of such title (article 125 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice) is repealed.” Click here to see the language of the provision as posted on Uniform Code of Miltary Justice website.

Article 125 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, which anyone can find by doing a Google search, says: “(a) Any person subject to this chapter who engages in unnatural carnal copulation with another person of the same or opposite sex or with an animal is guilty of sodomy. Penetration, however slight, is sufficient to complete the offense. (b) Any person found guilty of sodomy shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”

After the interview with Sen. McCain, CNSnews.com followed up with his office, as the senator suggested, asking why McCain had not been aware of the provision that woud repeal the military's ban on sodomy and bestiality and, now that he was aware of the provision, whether he supported it. McCain's office did not immediately respond.

Did all the other Republicans who also voted yes on this bill, fail to read it as well? Lie, Lie, Lie.

Does anybody here think J.D. Hayworth would've voted for this bill? Shame on you, Arizona, for reelecting this f**ked up asshat to the Senate! However, what would one expect when the pathetic, clueless lesbian Incompetano was elected by Arizonans as their governor?

Well, of course, they had to pass it in order to READ it and know what’s in it....per Nancy Pelosi’s precedent, natch.

I kept waiting to find the “surprise” in all of this.

There has been a DELIBERATE move throughout the decades to make bills longer and longer. When a 1200 page bill is birthed, there is NO WAY that any significant portion of either the House or Senate has any idea of what they are voting for.

As benevolent dictator of the United States, my first act would be to require that no bill may be longer than 10 pages in length.

These senators and congressmen who vote to pass these bills without reading them need to be held accountable for their actions.Or in this case inactions.

They passed this Obama care health bill without reading it and look what it’s done. Its just about destroyed the U.S. economy.

The question is: Who thought this needed to be a part of a 900+ page (!) military spending bill and WHY.

Exactly, throw every one out. To all you clowns in DC (and State and local governments) - you are elected to be “legislators” which means you are expected to write and vote on laws. It is implied, expected, and a “condition of your employment” that you will read the very laws you are passing and inflicting on the rest of us! In fact, we’d kind of like it if you put a little thought into your vote, considered consequences and alternatives before voting. This is not a grade-school play where you can just ad-lib it and everyone goes “aw, isn’t that cute!”

McCain states that he spent hundreds of hours reading that bill.

Let’s see, my math is terrible , so let’s round that off a bit and say 4 days is a hundred hours. He says he spent several hundred hrs. on it Lets say several is 4, that means McCain sepnt the equivalent of a motn just studying this bill.

Does anybody buy he could have spent the equivalent of a month of hours reading this bill?

Methinks the Senator doth tell an untruth.

I disagree.

I think they all knew what they were signing, and they all believed it was NECESSARY to do so to support Hussein’s repeal of DADT, because now “military gays” can’t be prosecuted for sodomy.

The bestiality part had to be repealed to repeal the sodomy.

I’ll bet Ace even discussed it with his daughter beforehand.
