I went back and reviewed his record. He’s far from a big government RINO. As a pro-life congressman he was a Reagan Coalition member and Reagan Revolution fighter. As Speaker he led his new Republican majority (the Republican Revolution) to pass the Contract with America, cut the deficit, cut the taxes, reform welfare, block Clinton’s agenda, balanced the budget four years running, and extended the Reagan economy through the nineties. Not a bad job for a RINO. As a historian and an appreciator of our Christian Founding and our founding principle that our unalienable rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness are a gift of God, he’s a natural fit for the TEA Party Rebellion.

By the way, Gallup's polls last week said the same thing about Gingrich leading Romney and all others among tea party and Republican conservatives:

It ain't no fluke and it's not just NBC lies. Gingrich is killing them in the debates and the polls. Tea party folks and the conservative base are flocking to him.

With due respect, I’d put my tea party cred up against yours any day. I’d put Jim Rob’s tea party cred up against yours any day. I’d take the cred of all the polls everywhere up against your cred. And all of that points to one thing: Newt is rocking with a lot of tea party support.

And the reason is simple: he is the inventor of the Contract with America and he spearheaded the 94 revolution - in a way a precursor to today’s tea party. He can accomplish a lot of what we want.

And we just don’t think MB and RS can accomplish that for us, and Perry doesn’t look like he can make it and HC has gone bye bye.

Newt and the Tea Party. Makes perfect sense to anyone who knows Newt, the contract, and history.

How many conservatives have actually accomplished a conservative agenda in Washington DC in the last 50 years? Name em! There are only 2 in my mind and one of them is Newt. Not sure how a "Rino" can get on that short list. Pretty sure the utopian conservatives around here would call Jesus Christ a RINO!

His clear stance on the Palestinian issue got the attention of the entire world instantly because he spoke truth to power. And he's only a primary candidate! Words mean things and that stance alone tells you he is no RINO. That is LEADERSHIP! In that one statement Newt Gingrich has provided more leadership to the entire world regarding the middle east than our entire government has over the last 3 years and beyond!
