I have no idea about Kirk, but the left is certainly trying to make the government insolvent. The Repub and Dem establishments play into the game, thinking the economy will rebound and the government will not become insolvent.

This is being done by forcing more government debt creation by increasing spending and lowering taxes, the natural consequence of seeking to buy votes with taxpayer dollars. The only debate between R & D establisment types and the left is who gets the borrowed dollars that they taxpayer must then someday repay.

Europe is the same and will blow up first.

Nations will all blame each other for their economic depression.

Widespread financial depression and geo-political embarassment of the political class as well as large investment funds and firms.

Nations must quickly turn to surviving on their own financially. Keep reliance to imports and exports to a reasonable level, keep a trade balance. Governments must reduce their staffing levels and general fund spending while maintaining their promises to the current elderly population - and dramatically reduce heavy-handed regulation and taxation of small business. The private sector must become self-reliant and start up a lot of small businesses.

I am FINALLY glad to see a politician make the right case to oppose the temporary “payroll” tax cut extension. Loved it. The fact that the Democrats are getting away with murder on this policy is outrageous and our party is allowing it to happen.

The “rich” being made to pay for it will only diminished job opportunity for all Americans. Republicans would be wise to offer permanent tax reform and offer no more gimmicks with Democrats instead.

maintaining their promises to the current elderly population

By what, redistributing the income of younger workers to "the elderly"?

*snicker*

Unlike today's recipients of Social Security and Medicare, many younger workers were mere children or outright unborn when these "promises" were made. As such, redistributing their income to "the elderly" through taxation is not only Marxism but taxation without representation - something over which Americans fought a war of independence over two centuries ago.

I have been an accountant and worked with payroll taxes for over 30 years. This 2% cut was put into place after Obama announced a freeze on government employees pay.

A government worker making $ 175,000 takes home $3500 more in net pay.

Middle class and low income workers take home $ 200 to $ 800 more in net pay.

Government employees got a windfall and the Social Security trust fund went 100 billion dollars farther into the hole last year and this year they want it extended causing 218 billion farther into the hole.

Doesn’t make any sense to me. The big guys get the money and the little guys pay the bill. It’s been that way forever and likely to continue.

This bill will have to be paid by our children and grandchildren.

The big guys pay the same rate as the little guys. They just happen to pay all the way to the cap at $106,500. The big guys are still paying twice as much as people earning half the max cap. Progressive income tax rates are really a bill of attainder aimed at punishing successful people. It’s unconstitutional class warfare. A fixed tax or a flat rate is legal as all are subject to the same law.

I know literally nothing about Mark Kirk, but listening to this it sounds to me like RINO or not he is right.

is there something wrong with being right?

He doesn’t sound like a RINO to me. A RINO wouldn’t be giving out these facts.
