Seems to me that he dealt with all of the others who passed him in the polls with with an attitude of being above the fray. Now, it seems to me that the rise of Newt has knocked him off of his game plan a little.
This is just the way I see it... I haven't completely settled on a candidate yet, but am admittedly leaning towards Newt. I will support the Republican nominee against Obama, but I don't have little altars or shrines built to any one candidate. (Not saying YOU do...)

Beyond the rise of Newt, people already know everything they need to know about Flip-Flopper Mitt and he's the slicker, whiter Obama.
I believe that bitty-bite comment was directed to me and not to BSF.
That's okay, I've found when Perry is doing well I get a lot of that -- it's a good barometer.
