More on Iranian Cyberplot, Plus Plans to Close Straits of Hormuz

Two days ago we reported on bombshell revelation of a cyber-attack plot against the U.S. formulated in Mexico with Iran government officials at the center.  The plot was exposed last week in a documentary on Univision, the largest Spanish language network in the U.S.

Today the Washington Times has additional information involving not only the Iranian Ambassador to Mexico, but also the Cuban Embassy, and the Venezuela consul in Miami.  The cyberplot was labeled "disturbing" by the State Department, and drew quick response on Capitol Hill, as well.

Senator Robert Menendez, (D-NJ), Chairman of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere has already announced plans for hearings to focus on Iran's activities in Latin America. "If Iran is using regional actors to facilitate and direct activities against the United States, this would represent a substantial increase in the level of the Iranian threat and would necessitate an immediate response," Menendez said.

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee sent a letter to Sec. of State Clinton demanding the expulsion of Venezuela consul, Livia Antonieta Acosta Noguera, if the allegations are confirmed.

In Venezuela, Hugo Chavez denied all the allegations and claimed the cyberplot was a fabrication by the U.S. "They are using a lie as an excuse to attack us," Chavez said.  "We must be on our guard."

Meanwhile, Fox News is reporting that Iran announced military exercises to close the Straits of Hormuz. "Soon we will hold a military maneuver on how to close the Strait of Hormuz," said Parviz Sarvari, a member of the Iranian parliament's National Security Committee.  "If the world wants to make the region insecure, we will make the world insecure."  One-sixth of the world's daily consumption of oil moves through the water passage on Iran’s western coast that narrows to just 34 miles.

This is the same Iranian regime that President Obama didn't want to upset by destroying the RQ-170 drone before they got their hands on one of the most sophisticated pieces of aviation reconnaissance technology in the world.   The mullahs in Tehran must have missed the “soft diplomacy” invitation from the Oval Office.

One sixth of the worlds consumption of oil goes through the straits.\You must take note :it is the worlds supply. Not the US.The world should think about doing soething to ensure thatthe straits are not closed. Not the US.

Now the easistway to ensure that supply is to remove the threat.
That threat is Iran. The world is not going to move against Iran ithas already proven that so the world is being held hostage by an old Mullah and a young turd named Ahmadinejhad.Who,I might add should have already have been dealt with.

I think you’re right, and the question might come up tonight, and the right answer might be to sit back and take note of what they’re up too rather than to react.

Much of the oil goes to China.

I’m srue they’ll ask tonight about the downed drone. Already Romney is talking big on what he would have done.

I’ve read here that our engineers are very confident that Iran will not find much of anything useful in their investigation of the drone. If so, then why destroy it?

If true, that makes Obama’s response the right one.

Do you sense that Obama is once again tacking to the right?

The problem for the US is Venezuelan oil, not Iranian.

We shouldn’t be having an oil problem to begin with we have plenty right here as does Canada. We should be completely independent of the Middle East, and the pipeline the Dipstick turned down should be staring to move right now instead of waiting for the State Department.

This dork we have for President has been granted way too much power and the other two branch’s are guilty of letting him take more and more.

Klintler gave up our Stealth technology via the F-117 shootdown in Bosnia. Now Obi gives our enemies state of the art drone technology. Intact. Good job Obi, you golf-playing SOB!

Intriguing. But I have to wonder if Mitch Rapp is somehow involved. I withhold judgment yet, and watching.

Well, exactly. The heavy tar sands oil that Keystone will carry will displace Venezuelan oil.

Approving Keystone is a no brainer. Figuring out why your president has deferred it is difficult. Rush had as good an explanation as any I have heard.

Not the US.The world should think about doing soething to ensure thatthe straits are not closed. Not the US.

The kenyan, marxist, muslim, usurper Hussein 0bama, through his budget strangulation of the military, is about to shrink the US Navy to the size it was in 1915. I seriously doubt that the US has the resources to keep the straits open.

The Keystone pipeline will get built. However, it will not get approved by the next president(even if its Obama) until after the 2012 election.

It is all about not offending his base. The far left enviromentalists do not want this pipeline, just like they do not want us fracking for oil and gas. They have stopped fracking for now in NY state.

Unfortunetly, getting a second term for Obama is more important that what is good for the country.

However, the oil from Alberta is still going to market. It just will be loaded into tankers at BC ports, then sent to refineries wherever the market pays the most.

I'm glad you are so sure. Here is a scary thought, if you were running China, would you want the pipeline to be built? Would you at least want it delayed? And Obama is delaying it.

Makes you think, doesn't it?
