re: “Why should the stature of the Judicial branch be any different than the stature of the Legislative and Executive branch? They are all co-equal branches!
If the Judiciary acts with dignity there stature would be enhanced, if not it will be degraded. To be viewed highly they must earn it!”

I’m not disagreeing with you per se, but I just think putting cameras in the Supreme Court is a BAD idea. I know that the Court is politicized already, but cameras would make it even worse. I don’t see where having Congress filmed now has made any difference in the stupid crap they pass everyday - all it gets us is grandstanding and grandiose political speeches in order to get “face time” on MSNBC.

The Court records are already available to any who want to see them so it’s not like their proceedings are unavailable.

Do you think it would really make a positive difference having cameras there or would it just turn it into a “reality” show?

Not being hostile, just wondering.

We learn how the decision making process works. For the Legislature we see how issues are debated on the floor. We uncovered that a lot of back room deals are made behind the scene that are not transparent. We learned that members vote on Bills that they never read. People are now looking for improvements and more transparency in the Legislature.
We can learn much by observing the Judiciary and seeing first hand how a judicial decision is made. We can learn who presents arguments before the Court, what questions the Court asks of the presenters, what legal factors go into their decision making and ultimately how they came to their decision.
The people have to abide by these rulings and they want to ascertain that the case before the Court was thoroughly examined and that the final decision is Constitutional.
