Now as the city celebrates its 125th birthday, creative South Africans are seeing gold in warehouses and cheap office space, and they're revitalizing neighborhoods with galleries, museums, shops, studios, clubs and restaurants.

JOHANNESBURG - (AP) -- Johannesburg dates its beginnings to the discovery of gold in 1886. Its downtown, where skyscrapers tower over deep mines, was abandoned by business in recent decades, and squatters turned the office towers into high-rise slums. But now, as the city celebrates its 125th birthday, creative South Africans are seeing gold in warehouses and cheap office space, and they're revitalizing neighborhoods with galleries, museums, shops, studios, clubs and restaurants.

They’re still headed to crash like Zimbabwe when they take all the land from white farmers and the food runs out.

All the businesses guaranteed to generate wealth. (cough) The gold mines can't carry it all. The candle burning brighter before the flare-out comes to mind.

Concur. These types of businesses are pleasant and produce jobs. But they do not produce wealth. They are derivative businesses feeding off of wealth.

This reads like a puff piece.

Maybe things are getting better in the small ways mentioned in the article, but they were and still are awfully bad before for the white minority Boers as this exhibit from the Afrikaner Genocide Museum claims.

It says that almost 69,000 white South Africans have been murdered by blacks in recent years, giving them a victim murder rate 5 times that of Detroit’s murder rate at 310 per 100K.

Warning. Graphic images!

If the races were reversed it would be in the papers daily...hope they all starve..killed all the white farmers that fed them, hanged their children, murdered and raped whites hacked people in half. Now the poor old country of Mandela doesn't have enough food to feed themselves...touch titties. The link is an eye opener...Lost the link before it finished...that was enough. Detroit and all the other inner cities on steroids at the same time...
